Girdling Plants To Increase Dry Matter

Basically Girdling causes a break in the cambium layer which denies carbohydrates created via photosynthesis going into the roots which forces all carbohydrates to go instead to the above ground parts of the plant until the cambium layer heals, water travel isn't effected as your only removing the cambium layer and not effecting the xylem or phloem.

Hmmmm...interesting but I would worry about introduction of biological issues in the wound or is that nonsensical? What have you encountered?
FF

its not really a issue, when girding cannabis you only make a 2 mm wide girdle and it heals within 4 days, never a issue.
Kinda like when you bend a stem break the cambium and it heals. The xylem and phloem, the white harder inner trunk are more resistant than the outside, no real issue there. In many ways Girdling is like grafting, if this worried you, you could wrap the girdle in grafting tape
If ring barking (girdling) will kill a tree what are the benifets for doing it to a cannabis plant..
I know everyone has there own ways of growing just wanderin how it is ment to increase dry matter an are you referrin to dry weight, Is there any other gains from doing it?

well a multi-billion dollar horticulture industry all ready does it and has done it year on year every year on trees and vines for over 12 years on the same plants /vines 2-3 times a season , yes it sounds crazy doesn't it. ring barking them, it makes more sense in cannabis which is basically a annual than say a grape vine or kiwifruit vine which will suffer 50 girdles plus in its life span, the industry has been forced to do this to meet the market,if you dont girdle you go broke competing with those who do. with cannabis it makes more sense as the plant is short lived. its basically starving carbohydrates temporary to the roots, to boost gains in fruit, or in our case buds.

Girding, doesn't kill if done correctly, you must do the girdle width and depth according to the plant so it bridges the ring bark are with cambium within 4-10 days.

Was about to ask you that about the sizing of the girdlin, if you removed to much the of the phloem layer no doubt the plant would die from what i read it only takes as little as 10% of the layer left in order for a healthy plant to survive.
Have you done a comparison run on the same strain grow methods etc, one with girdlin an one without to see how much it benifets you by doin it?
And are you only hittin the main stem with it or in multiple spots

I girdled outdoor plants up into the 80's in South fl.
Did not increase mass definitely decreased it.
Does make the plant turn gold\yellow and goldbud was the current fad so...........lolz.

I'm not questioning you at all op, but as someone suggested, does supercropping not get the same results?
Just asking.
FF

Im all for super cropping an it definetly has its benefits. Ive never heard of any one using a type of ring barking to get any gains from it this is why i asked op about it.
Iv heard people splittin the base of the plants stem before harvest to get better resin production, but doubt it would work

Banding is for flavor, seriously fuck yields guys their more important things that getting massive amounts of banned tasting boring weed
