shit i havnt begun to rely on it. i cant get utorrent to work, i cant get soulseek to work, i was lucky enough that firefox works, and when i get one p2p program working nothing else will work. my gf just got this really nice dell laptop. well it would be nice if it wasnt vista. she says 'oh i like it look how pretty i looks' wtf!?!?!??!
 
The torrent, and p2p programs could be whats causing your malfunctions. Loaded with spyware and all kinds of garbage from the get-go...
 
I use Limewire....seems to work without a hitch...but then I'm not on vista....but my daughter has Vista...and she uses Limewire too?
 
fuck limewire. that is full of spyware and bullshit. i dunno i just decided to say fuck that computer. i got another one that works fine! got win2kserver running on this one and i never have had a problem from the day i installed it like 5 or 6 years ago!!!!!!!! shes a trooper.
 
I love it. It's on my laptop and I haven't had one problem with it in over 7 months. Guess you'd better properly learn to use a computer.
 
I have a new dell 1520 laptop with Windows Vista pre-installed. I have thought about reformatting a few times in the short 2 months span I have owned this for. I searched google and disabled all the crap that you dont need in vista and it works "ok." Not the best OS but will hopefully be better in the coming months/years.
 
I reformatted my parents computers and put a nice new copy of xp pro on both of them. They are much happier now :mrgreen:

p.s. Vista uses like triple the resources of xp....:spew:

good move. It is the absolute most reliable operating system. Plus theres dozens of variations. Some of them are almost identical to windows :mrgreen:

If you want a linux os that looks like windows check out lindows...actually they changed the name to "linspire"
 
i mean what can you expect.... if you got crappy/shitty ass specs...then of course vista is gonna run crappy/shitty...

its like buying a cadillac but putting 87 gas in it and wondering why its not running to its fullest potential... or making bad ass noise...

first and foremost...forget buying vista ultimate on a system that cant even run it (no the manufacturers aint gon worry about it being fast enough...its a sales' scheme....)

second...this shit is just like our favorite hobby, go cheap and you will [grow] cheap



i've got vista on all my systems, and all my family's system. hell i even run vista ultimate on my media center... but guess what? i dont expect a p4 processor with only 512megs of ram to run flawlessly either

all my systems with vista ultimate has AT LEAST 1.5gigs of ram


and for future reference, windows ME and windows 2k were the most unstable systems EVER

sooner or later you will have to switch to vista, unless you plan on going the unix or mac route...cuz microsoft is dropping support of earlier OS's real fast

When will MSFT and all their devoted realize that Windows in any form and in all iterations is bloatware?

Yes ME was a worthless steaming pile of crap that MSFT made a shitload of money on for 1 year before writing a new OS.
 
Ive only had 1 problem with vista, a scanner didnt work coz they hadnt released a compatible driver, but thats Canon's fault, not Vista's. SP1's coming out soon according to Microsoft.

because aint nobody tell you to keep up with the jonses and have the most updated OS....

its just like a computer game... why buy a game that you know is graphic hog and you dont have the hardware nor graphics card to run it....

so yea if you want vista, then you will perform the necessary upgrades to run it...

its like dumb ass motherfuckers who want turbos and nos on their cars but dont wanna upgrade the manifold & the like

dont want to upgrade...stick with the basic, watered down packages...

that simple... dont like it? kick rocks
