is there a way to get a smaller amount of good soil for my indoor grow? i am only growing 2 plants, so its not like a need a 10lb bag or anything..

Mr. Avlon...

you will be growing GOLD.. so go out and get your self some GOLD... just BUY the best bag of fooking soil you can get!

Fox Farm
Black Gold

and NOW you KNOWM

update:

got some new soil, whats funny is nursery that i went to never heard of fox farm or black gold, but its alright... so i just transplanted the baby plants into the soil. i am guessing there is going to be some shock to them, does it take about a week for them to get over that?

Well nurseries wont have those soils as they dont usually carry good soils just bulk garden soils so usually they dont have any worth using. Thye do have miracle grow moisture control which I use and luv but the more exspensive soils like Black gold or Oceans will have to be ordered or picked up at a hydro shop.Make sure the soil isnt heavy black soil or you ll need to add perlite and Vermiliite to it so the roots can spread out. Also make sure its no cold soil but warm so roots dont get shocked.Shouldnt be much noticeable shock if you transplant right maybe 1 day max

so if they soil is black with little sand specs in it ill need to add the perlite? what happens if i dont?

Yeah you ll need something like perlite as that soil will be real heavy I bet the bag was heavy as can be.The soil needs to be light and airy so the roots can grow easily. If its heavy when you water it it gets real thick and the roots can grow outwards and it will hold water to long promoting root rot

well i got an 8lb bag, and i just did a test with the soil when it gets wet, it it stick or get real muddy at all.. that a good sign?

does it get heavy and sticky or does it just get moist and watre run right off it which is what you want? If it takes the water and is real wet then you wanna add perlitte as heavy wet dirt is a bad thing

it just runs down and it doesn't get muddy or sticky, still kinda remains fluffy (hope i am describing it correctly)

also thanks for the help Fletch!

If it doesnt get heavy and compact you should be alright. If you ever seem to get droopy or stunted growth that might be a possibility so keep an eye out but sounds like it ll work out..Good luck and hope many more

Should be ok. I levae my lights on 24 hours when vegging in 3 gallon pots.I water about 4 cups of water a week during the first 3 weeks
