Getting SOG started

Hey im new to the forum and to growing plants indoors. I saw the thread about the guy that harvests about a pound every two weeks with a Sea Of Green and thats the volume i want to produce. But first, is using soil realistic? I dont know anything about hydroponics. And to start out, after i have germinated my seeds and planted them is the goal to destroy all males? Like as soon as i can sex them i kill all the males and let the females left over be the mothers and just clone them repeatedly? I have a 10 x 10 ft shed that has heating and air, and 100 amp breaker box so electrically and climate control i think i am good but i dont have enough money to move out yet and i am worried about things being discovered. I have like a 200 dollar lowes gift card i could use to buy some MH lights and ballasts if i need too.

Realistically can i pump out a pound of good weed every two weeks in my 10 x 10 building? Could i do it with less space like my closet? Would using soil give me lower quality or less weed? Sorry im new but thanks for your help.

Not with only a $200 gift card.

If you want this type of set up you will need alot of items.

This is just a few things first.

First off this type of set-up will take the same time that a normal grow takes.

Ie every 2 weeks you will need to put plants into a new area (not room) but area. so you will need clones and not seeds, seeds you will need to let grow and mature for up to 8 weeks. Where clones can be flowered once roots are established.

You can start with seeds and after they have matured you can keep vegging them and start to take clones.

If you want 1lb every two weeks you will need to be dialed in.

This will take experience, money, and time.

You can use soil and it works well. It allows for more mistakes. hydro does not.

Yes you want to get rid of the males asap. You can use these if you want to make more seeds. but they need to be away from all of the other females.

What are you talking about moving out? How safe is the area you want to grow in?

To get a lb you will need to get 16 oz. So if you are useing sog and get .5oz to 1.0oz you will need 16 to 32 plants in each two week section. you will need four sections. So you will need more then one light system.

How much money can you spend on this set up?

I would read up on all the Journals and the faq.

Hey thanks for the really fast replies guys. And i could spend quite a bit if my setup would pay for its self fairly quick. And i mean i still live with my folks and i wouldnt want them to find this. I have classes in the morning and have a part time job so i cant afford my own place. I wouldnt need to make any more seeds if i kept cloning my Mom plants though right? And ill check out the FAQ. yup, only use seeds when starting a new strain. otherwise you must use clones to ensure that you are growing only females and that no males can pollenate your plants. this will cost a lot and i dont think you will be able to hide it from the parents. try to find a new location, maybe a friends basement, or a cool uncles place.

I wouldn't do it unless you folks are cool with it. They have to much to lose if something happens.
