Hello, I heard that some plant need cold to get the buds to change color.
At what stage should you start doing this?
Also can you use ice in the hydro system to accomplish this?

i think i remember bricktop saying once that the cooler air temps during flowering will bring out purple colors but its not directly due to the temperature, its because at low temp the plant begins locking out Potassium-which is essential during bud formation as well as many other functions...

Huh? If at low air temp the plant begins locking out nutes, then how is it not directly due to the low air temperature?

directly would be Cooler temps=purple color, healthy plant
indirectly would be cooler temps=nutrient lockout=purple color from a lacking plant

So are you saying it's normal and healthy to be purple in cold for some plants while in others it's deficiency?

Aren't both states still triggered by lower temperature? Hence, lower temperature is the direct cause.

A reaction in the plant is caused by lower air temp that results in purple stems.

Let me break it down thusly:

Q: What is the plant's physical reaction?
A: It has turned purple.

Q: What initiated the reaction in the plant that caused this physical change?
A: Lower air temperature.

Hence, lower air temperature is the direct cause of purple in the plant.

I've read about it and trying it with some of this black bud? I think its called.. nugs are so purple it looks almost black with bright orange hairs, someone told me its going to do it naturally from its genetics but I find that hard to believe.. so if all else fails im gonna lower the temp,,

Anyone have any success with the color change theory and lowering air temp?
