Germing Seeds- the mystery

so i have germed tons of seeds before and until i saw my friend try to germ some feminized seeds (which didnt work) i am almost ready to never order fem. again

but i want to know if it was his fault or the seeds

he kept them between two plates in paper towl, wetted down with brita filtered water

all of them popped except 1 of the 5, but only ever got the root just coming out of the seed, still curled

they were super skunk fem

The only thing i can think of is that the water he used was to cold and fucked the seeds????? or they were old and shitty

where did you order your seeds from? All i order are fem and they pop no problem. It might have been that the water was too cold though.
