Germination with root plug issue

hey everyone having a few problems with my first grow from seed right from the get go. Dropped 2 The Church from GH Seeds, 2 Red Diesel from Barneys and 3 G13 Thai Skunk 2 1/2 days ago (6:00pm April 15th).

Tried out the root plug method for germinating after a recomendation from a local hydro store. Woke up this morning to 1 Church and 2 Red Diesel sprouted out the root plugs but with white leaves??? The top to the humidity dome doesn't fit properly and I had to tape it up because when I woke up there was no moisture inside. Could my issue be the leaves dried up? Also, even though the others haven't sprouted should I take the humidity dome off now and give it some light?

Could use a little help from the knowledgeable folks here at RIU. I always got clones prior to this and now I am using seeds so having a little trouble. Got the Jorge Cervantes book out and it looks as if the seed should crack open with green leaves. So should I start over possibly?

its normal...put some light on them, and they will turn green. theyre just little babies right now. take care of them and they will grow to be big beautiful ladies. don't worry white/yellow leaves are normal when just popped. good luck.

Two more questions though:

Do you know approximately when I should take the humidity dome off?
Lastly two of them are quite droopy, bent like and S. Any signs of over watering or too high moisture content inside?

they do need some air...

You can either put an air pump feeding fresh air, or simply remove the dome occasionally so the
sprouted seeds can get some air exchange.

appreciate it torontoone. Probablly would have left the dome on continuosly if it weren't for you. I've researched and read lots but nothing is quite like doing it for yourself. Seem to have a few more questions than I originally thought I would have.

Do you know how often the little ones need to get water? At this point should I mist them or continue to add a little water to the plugs?

honestly, this is how i germ mine and i get 100%.

first i put them in a cup of water until i can poke them and they sink. then, i fold them up in a moist paper towel until there is a decent sprout going. then i put them in one of those jiffy disk things and put them all in a little bowl under a bunch of fluoros. no dome or anything. keep the jiffy sack things moist and they will start sprouting up. best method. imho.

Hello fellow growers! I was reading over this thread and was trying to figure out if your supposed to close the top of the grow plug after inserting the seed.? Another question I have to ask is, are u supposed to use fert during the germination/seedling stages? And, am I to open the top of my dome after my seeds sprout?

Yes close the top of the hole where seed was inserted. No seeds do not need nutrients. Grow in small pucks or cubes until roots penetrate than transplant to your choice of growing media. If using soil w/ nutrients in it than only water for the first few weeks, than add small amounts of nutrients increasing quantities as the plant grows. The key for us new guys is to take baby steps until we get the hang of things and can read our plants better. For watering I like those little plastic medicine syringes you can put the exact amount of waterthey need. don't overwater though the humidity dome does a good job in helping keep your little pucks wet.

You could take the dome off after they sprout, or open the little vents this will help keep the temp. around the plant constant until it gets a little bigger. Just watch for damping off or sweaty leaves this can cause mold. Allow them enough air to breathe and they will be fine.

The plugs that I'm using are like a spong material and I can't close the top. (pics aval.) How much run off from the plugs should I look 4?
