Germination Process

I have a few questions regarding the germination/seedling process. I have a 400w Lumatek digital ballast and a 3x3x6 tent that i will be using.

Strains = Fem'd Nirvana Blackberry & Fem'd Nirvana Whitecastle.

I've been thumbing the idea of starting them in a 50/50 mixture of Fox Farms Ocean Forest and Light Warrior and then when they are ready to go into Veg stick them in a 5gallon bucket with 100% ocean forest then feed as necessary.

I guess my questions are whats the best schedule for light when it comes to germination & Seedlings? When is an appropriate time to transplant them (would it be easier to just start them in the 5gal and supplement nutrients when needed and what kind of soil mixture would i use for that?

I have more questions just want to get started :)

Thanks for any advice ahead of time.

First of all kudos on the soil choice. Ocean Forest by itself can be too hot for some strains. Cutting it with Light Warrior should be perfect. You don't want to start out your seedlings in a 5 gallon bucket. It's hard to regulate watering and nute'ing in such a big pot and you can run into all kinds of ph/nutrient issues. Grow bags are very inexpensive and you can buy them online. you can get 1 gal, 3 gal, and 5 gal in the growbags and transplanting is a breeze. Plus they don't use up a lot of extra space. I usually transplant from a party cup to a 3 gal. grow bag after 3-4 weeks depending on the strain. Sometimes I have to transplant after two weeks.
