germination problems?

well i got approximately 300 seeds from a buddy who got them from some weed he grew. the problem is im germinating one right now, the main root is out but not to far and its been germinating for a week now and the root is only a cm or so out from the seed, i have it in a wet paper towel folded small inside an unsealed zip-lock bag for air circulation, when i check the seed the paper towel is very cool temperature wise. i had it under my bed for about 5 days and for the past 2 days its been in a drawer with the bag still open. could it be a bad seed even though the root is out? or is the paper towel being cold an issue? thanks.

I have no idea, I usually just leave my seeds germing in toilet paper and just throw em in my window

maybe the paper towel's too wet or like you said too cold, put it somewhere warmer and see what happens

Temp could be an issue... I agree. Room temp is best!

how would i get the paper towel to stay room temp though, i always get the water just right, wet the paper towel and a day later the paper towel is cool.should i take the paper towel out of the bag and put it on top for better air circulation?

Dude,
Screw the paper towel idea. Everytime I have germed I just throw them in a water bottle with about an inch of water in there so they float and put them somewhere dark and warm. Check on them once a day and they will spout. Works every time.

just water nothing else? and do i keep the lid on or off. thanks for the help everyone

You can put the lid on. Really I think people focus way too much on ideas for germing. Germing is EASY! The hard part comes when the grow begins. Hope this helps. Just use the water and let em float. That's all. Works every time.

I germinate my seeds the wet paper towel way, just throw them on top of the computer tower or a tv, and it'll stay warm enough and you should be rockin!

that's what i do but if your taproot is showing it is time to plant - what's the problem?

shouldn't i wait till its a bit longer? i mean its not very long, i havnt checked on it for 2 days now. im going to tonight. oh and my seed sunk when i put it in the water, is it because the main root?

as soon as i see taproot in they go!
Heck! sometimes i don't even wait for my seeds to crack before i plant them.

if you have root showing you want to plant it. germinating is just to get the seed to crack so you know it's a good seed for planting

I used the paper towl method it worked but out of my Ten premo seeds none of them sprouted after I planed them--they were nothern lights and I followed all directions. after a week no sprouts--I am using a heating mat and nothing.

how low in the soil did u plant them? my parents manage a lil flower station and they are cool with me and growing.....kinda but they told me that if you get the seed to germinate then just actually put it on top of the soil with the soil damp and just a regular house lamp like a desk lamp and they will start getting a root system going. i didnt believe them but i got some seeds and actually that was the only one that grew out of the three that i planted. just make sure you keep the seed warm if you are doing it this way dont go put it in a even semi chilly room cuz it will die.

if you have them in a ziplock bag to long after the taproot shows it will rot. Give the seed a gently squeeze and see if it mooshes. Best ways I found to let them germinate is toss them in a cup of water and set them on top of the back of your computer by the powersupply where its warm.

I have a question that is off topic--I have two plants 18" ready for me to flower. One female has shown herself one has not. My question is how much bigger will my plants get after I put them on 12/12 flowering--Ihave heard about 3' high--is this true.

18'' to 24'' is perfect timing for flowering....
