Hi, today would be my first day into germination and im just doing the cup of water in a dark warm area and when I went to look at the seeds the water was creamy. Why is that happening? Is there a way to fix it?
Wet dream possibly? Just kidding...fuck the cup of water method. Sometimes if you leave em in too long that will happen. Just spray a paper towel...moist not drenched. Next place seed in paper towel and fold once like in a sandwich. Now you place the paper towel with seed in a partially closed ziplock and put the ziplock in your clothing drawer between you shirts for warmth...24-48 hrs you will see a taproot. Once you see the taproot place the seed in soil about half inch deep with root facing down and cover with soil. You can use a clear cup as a humidity dome if you want.
Seedlings are still aerobic; the radicle, the growing root tip all require oxygen. Too wet or in sealed environment for too long means no oxygen, and the seed can easily rot. Straight into soil\less half inch, 4" containers (at least), water thoroughly and put somewhere at least 72F. Light is fine if in soil/mix, seeds are covered by the mix until they sprout.

Not 12-12, it'll stretch and likely start to flower too soon. You'll get better growth with 24 hours of lighting. You could do 20, or 18 as well. I just leave my T5 on constantly, about five inches away at first, because it warms the soil surface. When they sprout they'll immediately get some light, even if I am not around. Once I notice they have popped up I bring them within a few inches of the T5 fixture to prevent them from stretching.
