Germinating seeds paper towels

I remember as a kid in school terming a seed in a jar with a rolled up piece of paper pressing it against the inside out the jAr. A small amount of water was added to the bottom of the jar and allowed to wick up the paper. How overcomplicated is that lol

Ive never used rockwool, might try that on next grow. Ive always used the paper towel method with 100% success so im nervous to try something new when this is working out so well.

I tried rockwool coz I wrecked a pack of shiva in paper towels. I have 100% success so I won't change. There's a lot of research on why straight to medium is better but if I was u I wouldn't fix something that's not broken

Germinating straight in the dirt works for me. If you have it use a light seed starting soil. If not, just thin your soil with a little perlite or vermiculite. Warming the soil increases germination too. I use a cheapie window seal heat mat and put the seed in a small plastic cup. I water the seed in a bit, then place an identical clear plastic cup ontop of the other. Then onto the heat mat. You'll see the top cup cloud up making a nice humidity dome! Then just leave it, the dome will keep fans from drying up your medium quickly.

For those who sprout seeds in a paper towel and a sandwich bag, don't lay the bag flat.. They curl up and are confused about where to go... Hang that baggie by the edge with a clothes pin... All the roots will grow down and straight..

I'm a newb but 100% germ rate. 12-24hrs soaked in tap water in the dark. Then moist paper towel. Put the bean in the towel so it is fold. I found the tap root follows this fold and stays very straight. I put this in a chinesse food container wrap it in a black shirt throw it on the cable box (it's warm) and the next day it sprouts. I wait until it's about 3/4" and put that straight into clay pebbles. It's easy and it's free not rockwool no rapid rooters just science. I am however super careful and clean with the babies so maybe it's not for everyone

If you are unsure or a little iffy just pop your seeds into some moist soil. Trust me they'll pop. And you won't have the worry of injuring the tap root.
