Germinating seeds like subcool (in rapid rooters) Question

I have only germinated in paper towels. I Have planned on doing it in rapid rooters after I saw the method of it. I like the idea of just putting the seed in there with the point up and not having to transplant a germed seed. Do a lot of people do it this way? Do you put em inside the rooter then put the rooter in the propagation dome then water em or just have the dome lid upside down like in subcools pic?

I believe what you're seeing as the lid to the dome is the bottom of Subcool's germination and cloning chamber, I doubted it until I tried it, it works.

Subcool's method for seeds I believe is the same as his method for cloning he uses plastic shoeboxes (they sell them by all the plastic bins / dressers at stores) I paid $1.25 each for mine. I attended a lecture of his where I learned this. I've used this method, however I still prefer to do seeds in Rockwool, but I do my clones in the Rapid Rooters.

As for seeds unless I'm incorrect yet very lucky, put the pointy side down. It seemed obvious to me at first but I had to read to double check how to plant one and though I've not started or looked into seeds since early October I'm pretty sure I'm right.

I use rapid rooters and cover with a dome. I put the seed in, not worrying about pointy side up or down - i didn't know it made a difference. I mist everyday so they don't dry out. Only lost one seed last year (out of 20+).

Just get the rooter wet, put the seed in there and pinch the hole closed, then put the rooter in the humidity dome, keep the floro on the dome, mist everyday once they start to emerge?


Does that sound about right?

I keep the rapid rooters in the refrigerator and they are already moist, I get them a little bit wet. I don't pinch the hole. But i mist everyday before and after the seed emerges or else the rapid rotters will dry out. I keep them in the dome until the seed is popping up with two little starter leaves.

I soak my seed in a glass of water for a minimum of 12 hrs, if it sinks, it's good, floats=not good, then I put it in the rooter, doesn't matter which end up, put it in a party cup and under a cfl,works everytime!!!

well everyone have different method to germinate, they re all working good...most posters s germinate method is similar to me...I dont know if anyone do that but thats me, i ve always add superthrive and let seeds soak for 24 hours till the seeds are sank on the bottom i will put em on the towel for another till the rootlet come out, i will put in the jiffy pellet and cover with humidity tent....

sometimes i will just plant seed direct in the soilless pot without soak or paper towel, it works good too...try to find the best method that you re feeling comfortable, buddy.
