Germinating seeds in soil

How long before I see a sprout

Could be anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks.

Make sure the soil is moist and warm. Plant seed 1/4-1/2" deep and lightly cover with soil. Water. You should see a sprout in 2-5 days usually. Rarely does it take longer than a week.

what kind of seeds are you using. I bought some nirvana ak and master kush germinated in soil with heat pad underneath and fried them. re planted some more with no heat pad, light warrior and ocean forest mix damp in 80 degree temp with plastic over cup been three days still no sign. I always did the paper towel but heard this is the way to go and having no luck with my bought seeds. any ideas what could be wrong?

I bought some Nirvana short riders. Soaked them for a couple hours then planted them. Have them on a heated mat....soil about 80 degrees. Planted them last fri eve and got 1 sprout an hour ago ( Monday). Hope the rest go soon. Nirvana has discontinued their autoflower strains except short rider due to issues.... today the discontinued Short riders....so even if they sprout, I can't be sure they are going to grow.....I'M PISSED. Sent them a complaint and an opportunity to right any upcoming issues by sending me something else......we'll see !

IMHO, I would say 1-2 weeks. If you make it to week 3 without them popping up, then probably duds...if all conditions are good for sprouting.
I used to do the damp paper towel germination, but I noticed that not all that germinated lived to break through the soil or rock wool.
I guess either weak plants or root shock. Now I plant in those dirt pucks and when they break through and roots start to come out, then I put it into a large rock wool blocks or straight into hydroten baskets and into my flood tray.
My first successful grow was in my DIY ebb and flow system. I tried soil twice and I can't grow shit. Seems for me the harder way was the easiest beginners way for me...Totally backwards for most as many say soil first, learn, and then go hydro.

What could be wrong? You purchased seeds from Nirvana.
