Germinated Seeds -> Seedlings Help

So I germinated my seeds and placed them under 400watt MH lights. I feel that the lights are drying out the soil. How long will it take for the germinated seeds to grow? or should i just turn off the lights and let the plants grow in the sun for now? im lost so any help is welcome!

You can't beat the sun, though you should be able to grow seedlings under that 400, just don't put it too close to the plants , you should be able to keep your hand in the light, where the plants are, if it burns your hand , it will burn your plants. A lot of people prefer to use floro's to grow seedlings. Good luck

In the sun for now a 400w mh lamp will melt seedlings unless its at least 5 foot away.and keep the lights on 18/6 for seedlings.growing on a window is ok if you are getting plenty sunshine 18/6. And have you planted the germinated seeds???. An are you asking when they will rise above the soil as sprouts????.cfls are better for sprouts and vegging.

here are the pics as promised

turn the light off. No need for it for a while from the looks of it. Let them sit in the room in just normal roomlight or even complete darkness till they are at least 1 inch or so high then slowly get them used to the mh. I would suggest using a small floro or some cfls when then are smaller. You will know when they want the mh just by watching them grow. Think of it this way. these are your children, you will watch them grow and you will most likely talk to them and look at them very carefully. When they are big enough and are strong enough put the mh on them but for now its like throwing a infant in a tanning bed.

Aint that the truth.
