germ directly in a bubbleponics sytem?

What would the drawbacks be of actually placing the seeds (pointy side down) into an already running bubble system where the rockwool cubes are already set up with feeder tubes directly into the cubes? Assume this would be in a perfectly dark room. Assume the temperature would be regulated to be nice and warm. Assume there is a ton of oxygenation in the system.

Is there a reason to *NOT* do this? What benefit is there to germing them by other means first? (Other than you might be wasting spots on dud seeds?)

Thanks, Kevin. I assumed that this would work fine, if not better, due to less root stress from no transplanting.
