genetics question...

Ok,
I'm pretty stoned right now.. but have a weird question.

In my last grow, I was doing a few different strains. I had all feminized seeds, and cloned out my plants, threw them into flower.. all girls.
I had in one "room" a bubba kush and a strawberry cough. 2 plants. I got 1/4 lb from them. out of that 1/4 lb, I found a few seeds in the kush.
It spit out a few bananas that went unnoticed as it was in the back corner of the space, and I literally got 2 viable looking seeds (maybe 6 white ones).

I am smoking the last of the strawberry cough from the plant from the same space as the hermied kush right now, and found a seed. one seed out of the 2 1/2 ounces of cough.

I've never had a plant hermie on me or had seeds before... I'm pretty stoked. My question is about the cough seed....
is this how a breeder crosses genetics?

In which case.. if I grow out this seed.. and it's a female, can I count on at least a possibility of a strawberry kush?

Even if someone can point me to a good starting point to start learning more about genetics and breeding weed on my own - it would be appreciated.:joint:

If the Cough pollinated itself, then most likely the offspring will be herms. If the Cough hermed and pollinated the kush, then it's likely you have some either fem/herm seeds.

I'm sure you could find a torrent of Robert Clarke's "Marijuana Botany", which is a great source to learn about breading.

Odds are its a plant! YES STRAWBERRY KUSH maybe,

I would say the odds are pretty good it's a plant - yes.

Thanks for something to look up :) I'll try and find a place to download it.

No- the kush pollinated the strawberry (and itself).
I'm not as concerned if the plant will hermie...I'm wondering about the potential of the plant.
I'm not trying to come off like I lucked out and invented a new strain... I'm not. I suspect there's alot more to breeding and stabilizing a strain than I could likely even start to imagine. I'm just asking if there is any possibility that I MAY have lucked out and will get a killer mix by accident? can that happen - is what I'm wondering.. or does it not work like that?
I mean... if I take bubba kush (which was a killer set of genetics) and it hermies and pollinates a decent strawberry cough (my best cough plant was in my other room) what are the chances that I could get a really decent cross? 33.33%? ..25%?
I vaguely remember Mendel's Law stuff from high school... but that was long long ago.. and I don't really know what different factors effect MJ genetics or how to apply the laws to answer the question.

ok...

So - for ease of discussion.. I have a 50% chance at a female plant.. and then a crap shoot as to what characteristics become dominant. But within that crap shoot I have a possibility of having a really good hybrid on my hands?

Am I understanding it right? Or am I missing anything?
