i agree with him. i dont think doctors will prescribe heroin to anyone that walks in the door. sure, there will be some that will do that. but we have that now with all prescription drugs. not only that, but if we legalize these drugs, scientists can then study them. we have no idea what sort of substances could come out of these studies. most likely medicines. plus the things we learn about the human body when we study people on these drugs. why spend billions of dollars to inhibit science?

I think the government claims stewardship in some form and thus claims the right to protect our welfare.

It's the level of that control that we must rail against such as warrantless 4th amendment issues.

They claim its because of the general welfare clause in the preamble to the Constitution for the United States.

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

I have to admit I would find the first reason to discount a Republican and that it is tempting to think a campaign promise is a good as gold but, I will not cross this guy off my list yet.
That says a lot.
So, Eyes open.
