Right, this would be driving around and picking up recycling or garbage from houses, I think somedays in a recycling plant sorting. I'm a licenced operator of a certain piece of large equipment but things have slowed down, my company went under and there are none around that are hiring. I think I may just bite the bullet and see whats its like. I'll be home every night which I wasn't with my old job but I can't see the money being close to what I was used to.
It may not be your dream job, but it will pay the bills until a good one comes along.

Well I had the interview yesterday, 12.75 to start. Not sure how someone is supposed to pay a mortgage, vehicle payments, taxes, hydro, water, food, insurance, gas, etc. on 12 bucks an hour with no overtime (I make more on EI). It's funny, I've applied to I think 20 different places since December and have heard nothing until yesterday when I get a call from a road construction company, my old boss wants me back, and this recycling job.
So I'm taking the road construction job because my old boss needs to get his shit together (still owes me $7400.00) and the pay is better then the recycling job. I'll be on the road which sucks but lots of overtime which I love. I have a job again wooooo hoooooo.

Thanks brother, A year ago at this time I was making 26/hr, working an average of 55 hours a week. Since being laid off I REALLY learned how to conserve money lol. I think with the road construction I will be close to 18 or 20/hr.
I just have to figure out what to do with my poor plants now, I guess one of my buddies is getting an early christmas present

My buddy does garbage and tells me about the horror stories. He says that you need a strong stomach. I would do it if I had to though. I am not sure where you are but in New England they are union and pay well with real good bennies. So if you are starting at 12ish soon you will be at 20ish if it is union. My brother is UPS and it was similar,started at 13.75 then after 2 1/2 years making $29. Nope that is not a misprint, UPS is paid very well.
