Ganja Queen's Stealth Micro Grow

@Queen I notice your seedling is a bit lanky. Is this a result of the LED output or is this in relation to the distance to the LED? So far the only seedling I've had that got uber tall was about 5" from the light and stretched to far. Now I keep the light 2" til the first set of leaves then I back off to 4". This is with my CFLs of course. Not giving you shit by any means I've just looking to learn more.

It's lanky because all growth was achieved with only one 9.5w LED. If I used more bulbs, it would be shorter. Since this is going to be a bonsai mom I don't really mind it stretching a little and don't feel pressed to add a bunch of light. Just need to be able to take clones every week or so.

Ah, I see that makes good sense. I'm very fond of LST and by the end of my grow should have a very interesting bonsai like tree myself. I was thinking of using your bonsai approach and building a mother "cube" to sit along side my 2'x2'x4' grow "box". Figure I should be able to run 6 clones in the box.

It's been far too long since I've posted here, work has really been taking up so much of my time.
That being said, I've still been lurking when I've had the chance and I must say, GQ you've got quite the green thumb.
Merry Christmas and all that jazz.

I spent the day putting in work on my cab, just need to get ventilation and I'm all set to grow.
(Shocked that I've actually managed to refrain from dropping all my money and what little bit of spare time I have into my car projects.)

Glad to hear your grow is just about ready to get started bearded :). I was wondering where you were at, but figured that you just got busy. Can definitely understand that, am getting more hours at the job so am definitely staying busy as well. Not to mention it's the holiday season. :leaf:Happy New Years:leaf: to you by the way. It's a bit early but there is a good chance I might not be coherent enough to use a computer within the next couple days to tell you lol!

Some quick pics of Critical Jack Herer. She's midway in the 4th week of flowering. I'm thinking she'll go around 9 weeks total, but we shall see. She doesn't look bad considering what she has been through imo. She isn't very smelly yet, which is nice. I hope her clone takes root because I might want to keep the genetics around a while longer.

Took a clone of Cotton Candy tonight:

Here is how mom looks now:

Have no clue if seed is male or fem, but hopefully clone roots soon and we find out :p

Been a little bit since an update so posting a quick one.

Critical Jack Herer is in the middle of the 3rd week of flowering and is doing alright:

The Cotton Candy seedling is growing well and ended up experimenting with a clone from a branch of the CJH that wasn't developing as fast as the others. Will be cloning the cotton candy in a week or so and flowering it asap. Keeping fingers crossed that it's a female but dropping a fem seed tonight just in case it's not.

And I'm having an awesome Holiday because a good friend was so kind to look out for me once again :weed:

i need friends like Yours lol

Hey GQ! Subbed (: really wanna see how much that yields!

Those LEDs seem to work really well! Too bad i can't really use them because it isn't that hot where i live so i need the heat from CFLs :/ and also the pricing is a bit too much for me :p

looking forward to some updates of that sexy Jack! =D

Very nice Ganja queen! Nice gift!

I meant to ask, what is the distance from the lights to the tops? Obviously you are close, but I can't quite get an angle on it. Is it more or less than 6".

Since yours is so similar, I need to incorporate you into my notes if you don't mind. I had no troube @1-2" and now I am going again @ 12" then today @ 6" and the leaves are all reaching up. Good penetration even at that distance.

Nerd, these will / do make heat. I find that you just run less exhaust if you want the temp to go up....

yeah well seems logical :p how much would a full LED rig cost? like for a medium tower case with 1 maybe 2 plants in it with some LST

I'm really considering it because of the durability of LEDs

I agree with abiqua about running less exhaust. LEDs are not that much more expensive than CFLs on a micro level and when you compare the benefits / life / PAR. I bought bulbs for 6 bucks each. Look how well the Jack is growing with only four 9.5w bulbs. :weed:

Shit, I don't know lol. I've just been keeping the plant far away enough from the heat sinks that it doesn't singe the plant...am guessing they are close to 6 or less.

Remember the bonsai mom after I took the clone?

This is her now:

Going to take some more clones soon :D.

**Leaves are slightly yellow because the Fox Farm Ocean Forest nutes ran out faster being cut with so much perlite. Have since rectified, hence the new green growth.

Here is Frankenplant (Critical Jack Herer) - Midway through 5th week of flowering:

mm looking tasty =D one more question about LEDs, you have me convinced about them if you are truly only using 4 of em for such nice plants, but in terms of light spectrum, do the light spectrums work in the same way as with CFLs? I'm going for autos myself so a constant 20/4 light cycle is going to be used, any ideas on what light spectrum i should get? thanks! =D
