Galaxy Ballast

I picked up a used Galaxy 600 watt digital ballast. I've read the Sunlight Systems website and it seems that you can just use any regular MH bulb. Instead of needing a conversion bulb. Do any of you guys have this ballast. I know there's some ballast like 1000 watt system where you don't need a conversion bulb and just flick your switch but not sure about this model since most digital 600 watt units don't come with a switch & you just need a conversion bulb.

Thanks for any input.

There is no such thing as a 600w MH bulb. MH only come in 400w and 1000w. So you will HAVE to run a 600w MH conversion bulb. Digital ballast will run either MH or HPS so it wont matter anyway.

Ummm,
I have a 600 watt digital ballast and I use both 600watt MH/hps bulbs and do not need a conversion bulb.
Just google 600watt mh bulbs.
I think the sponsor of this site doesn't sell them but plenty of them are available.

I had the Galaxy 600; it wouldn't light the lamp without plugging and unplugging up to 2 dozen times - I used the light like this through the summer of 2008, ~ 4 months; Sunlight Supply had no problem with the light at their factory but replaced it with a beautiful entry level magnetic ballast that works perfectly.

There are specialty MH lamps made for electronic ballasts:

Sun Pulse
: These lamps have also been designed to work with electronic and digital ballasts. They won't destroy electronic ballast or be destroyed themselves.
