FOR ALL THE PPL WHO HAVE NOTICE...I AM NEW TO THE BOARD..AND NEW TO GROWING.....I HAD PURCHASED A 23 WATT CFL (Equivalent TO 100 WATTS INCANDESCENT) WHICH I KNOW ISNT ENOUGH..THIS IS A TEST RUN....I HAVE DONE A LITTLE MATH....BECAUSE..IF IM NOT MISTAKEN...A 68 WATT CFL (Equivalent TO 300 WATTS INCANDESCENT).....IS A GOOD LIGHT.. CORRECT????.....HERE ARE SOME LIGHTS I WAS LOOKING INTO

http://www.1000bulbs.com/Light_Bulb...m=shopping+site&utm_campaign=Froogle+datafeed

is this ok if so im going to get something of this specs..also...i live in an all electric home and i did the math on the lights we use.....i had changed them to cfl's along time ago..but know that i am more aware of the wattage...my house was using a maximum of 275 watts just between the lights...im going to swap those energy saving lights to 2watt cfls maybe 3...through out the house to use a max of 14-20 watts and i can use the 68 watt cfl and could slash the energy consumption by 187 watts....

am i on the right path....i dont want to seem like a nuisance but i want the best possible grow....im from california where the prices are crazy...i rather learn how to grow this properly..im not an idiot like most other..lol...need feedback

also im on a budget..i need something better than sub standard but affordable at the sasme time..im hoping that the 68 watt cfl is the right one......
feedback welcomed

also...hps lights...is the wattage exactly as it states????
if so...what is a good low level one.for about 1-2 plants

A few of those CFL's will work fine.
My first grow (check my link) was using 6 15W Flouro tubes. LOL!!! Funny now but it Works!!!!!
If you are looking to grow a few plants cheaply you can do it with CFL's. HPS 250W would be a huge upgrade to those CFL's though.....

I was the same way at first. Just a cheap grow, did'nt want to pay for my weed anymore. But once I grew, I wanted Better....Then Better...and now I want to grow Bigger...and Bigger LOL!!!:weed:

Good Luck....Have fun!!!!!!!!!!

LOL!!!! My first set of Lights.....

But Like I said..They Worked.. Took 5 plants from Veg to flower

atm I'm flowering with 3-42w cfl's and a 400w hps. the veg was done with 3-42w cfl 1-85w cfl and 2-40w tubes.the vegwent better with the 400w mh. imo

well..mostly everyone was using 90-120 watts of cfl....
here are a few things i need to know seriously

is the 68 watt cfl good for one plant....maybe two..in my closet i can set up the light to shine over the plants while reflecting off of the walls
is the 250watt hps using 250 actual watts?????
or is it like cfl's where 23 watts equals 100 watts incandescent???
what is a good cheap soil

im am like so fucking anxious to get this shit up and running..lol...i cant contain the joy from gaining this knowledge....i want a descent amount of bud on my first grow...this grow was a little test run..once i get the particulars out the way then i will purchase some seeds online..does anyone know a website that has good prices and will ship to america..a personal experience would be great

lol..i was posting while kush'd..excuse me..lol...i dont remember the brand name....i just remember the attendant taking me to the lights section....i told him that i was growing marijuana...lol....he pulled me to the side and showed me some things he has been experimenting with....he showed me a 68 watt cfl....this was at home depot in los angeles

ya it would be. does it come in a snap togather fixture. I got both of mine at hd 80w 100w didn't see a 68w and 42w was the highest watt without a ballist.

Color Temperature (CT) - Color temperature, which is measured in Kelvin, indicates whether a lamp has a warm, midrange or cool color appearance. "Warm" light sources have a low color temperature (2000-3000K) and feature more light in the red/orange/yellow range. Light with a higher color temperature (>5000K) features more blue light and is referred to as "cool."
