Police Clerk Drops Envelope With Bullet, Gets Shot

"A female employee of the Sacramento
Police Department was accidentally shot when she dropped an envelope containing ammunition and one of the bullets went off, according to police.
The accident happened in the property room of the police facility on the 500 block of Sequoia Pacific Blvd. just off Richards Blvd.
The property room clerk was hit in the leg with shrapnel when the .40 caliber bullet that exploded.
The woman, who has worked for the department for ten years, was taken to UC Davis Medical Center. She was treated and released just after noon. "
Uneducated reporters - the .40 cal "Bullet" did not explode, the .40 cal "Round" exploded and the bullet simply fell to the floor. She was hit by shrapnel from the casing.
