I got plants from a friend, a week or two later he has. fungus gnat problem and tells me. I just saw 1 walking around on the soil today, no visible sign of damage to the plant... yet. I put up some yellow sticky traps, should I scrape the top 2inches of soil off? I just watered today so It'll be a while till it dries out. Please help, i know the problem will only escalate.

Hypoaspis miles will take care of them. You can buy them separately, but I would just top dress with some EWC or vermicompost, since they should already be in it. That's where all my predators came from. I haven't seen a gnat in over a year. I'm also using the same soil, but have turned it into no-till.

I've heard a lot about Gnatrol too, but I've never used it personally.

If I ever decide to purchase extra predators, it will be from here.

,

Ill get some of that today, maybe mosquito dunks as well. My infestation is super minor. Ive seen a total of 3. But Im going to go nuclear on them.
IMHO there is no need to go into full mode chemical warfare over a few gnats.... these bugs are a nuisance but don't impose a serious threat to your MJ health, unlike spider mites

Using those yellow sticky traps will likely kill them or at least keep their numbers low.

Also consider using the vacuum cleaner as an exterminator, just tap the pot and when they start to fly around you can chase the little fuckers down with the hose....they can't escape from the powerful vortex of the vacuum

Ill get dunks and see how it goes, website says that they only ship these guys on Tuesdays, so it would be another week till i could get some. Its no infestation, and my soil is drying out, mosquito dunks should hold them off for now, its the same stuff as Gnatrol basically, just BTI. just jumpy at the idea of something uncontrollable around my babies

Nematodes are the way i want to go, but i think ill try the cheaper BTI stuff first, i found some on Arbico that ship overnight. Link but i can't combine them with diatomaceous earth cause it kills the Nematodes also. Ill just start with BTI drenches

Good call man. If you could get some EWC, that would help too. Even the Wiggle Worm brand had a ton of hypoaspis miles.

This shit kicks ass and has a few different predators to take care of the bad shit.
