i always used these yellow strips, theyre extremely stickey and i bought them at a nursery for a white fly problem. probably find them at a hardware store or somthing too. the downside is they stick the good and bugs too. and if your plant touches them its stuck...and thats never any fun, but if your smart thats not a problem. oh and by the way it took care of the white flys pretty good.

Does the DE stay on your soil after watering? I cant believe the no pest strip didnt work better. I thought those are supposed to sterilize the room! Think its cus of the active exhaust pulling out fumes.

My problem was the stupid pots I used. The worst thing about them is they were too big, I went from less then 1/2 gal up to 2 1/2 gal pots. Then I flowered right away. Tried to be careful about watering sparingly and letting the roots fill up the space but.... Think they didnt need such big pots and they stayed too wet at the bottom. With the wierd shape gnats can get all up there probably. And now the sand on top makes it way worse, staying wet forever.

Now some are looking so bad Im not sure I can get em thru to harvest. Think Im gonna try BT every 5 days with peroxide for oxygen, and it kills the larvea.

I had a gnat infestation last week
went and found an organic insecticide.
uses rosemary and pepperment oils and some other natural stuff
found it at home depot

I first topped the soil with a layer of perlite, sprayed the top layer with the spray, and then transplanted into fresh pots

check my grow journal to see how its doing

only bad side was a bit too much got on a leaf and wilted it away, but other than that, and the transplant shock, gnats are no where to be found

The layer of DE on top of the soil (or whatever) has to be kept dry. If it's dry, it sticks to the gnats, the gnats won't lay eggs on it, or the eggs might die if laid.

If you did get it wet, some would seep into the soil, most would sit on top. Don't get it wet though.

I recommend mixing peppermint and water and spraying the base of the plant with that and then putting up the sticky yellow tape. It has never failed me :)

use beneficial nematodes, they won't harm your plants will continue to work while your away and all you need to do is add them to your soil. Ne chemicals in your soil that you don't need.

diy guide. first u might have to re pot ur plants. ur going to need the soil 2 inches below ur rim of ur pot. second repot in perlit or sand with a inch or more in the bottom of ur pots around drain holes. add perlit to the top of ur soil. at least a inch. u should have about a inch of space left to the top of ur pot. then cover the hole top of ur plant pot with duct tape. dont seal it up just place as close as u can to each piece of tape. place a thin slice of potato under the tape on top of the perlit sand. now let ur plant dry out. replace potato ever 2 days. the ones that dont get stuck to the tape will lay eggs on the potato instead of ur plant. if u have to water mist the leaves for a few days dont water the plants. add a fan to plants and blow the flyers off the leaves. i also put sulfur in my water i kills mold and fungus..... next time u buy or get compost place it in a five gallon bucket soak it with water and cover it with a black garbage bag seal it with tape. place in sun let it bake. i let it go all sumer and us it in winter.
