I know for a while, they took donations to stay open and keep all there information in circulation. However, just recently they were funded by a mandated taxation, so no longer need donations to stay open...not sure though?
Heh, no this isn't true. Erowid Center gets no public funding and certainly nothing like mandated taxation. We still rely on visitor donations and contributions from the public for everything we do.
Sorry about the outage last week. A drive went bad in our RAID array and it happened when our primary volunteer sysadmin was on an international flight. So it took longer than it would normally to get it all back to working.
