Frustrated!!! NEWB ????

So I started with a 5x5, a 6 bucket ebb and flow and a Gavita Pro 1000 DE for equipment

Im having terrible temp problems

I set tent under house central ac unit and ran 8 inch line to bottom with the thought the cool 76 degree air would start at bottom the heat would rise and vent out top of tent, that happens im sure but tent temps are 95 with the light set to 2nd lowest setting. The sump tank that feeds plants is roughly 77 but room is way hotter than house because of light. I have couple huge airstones

I bought an ac unit today and will try to rig it up effectively. What I'm wonder is how I can vent that light effectively, Maybe into attic????

The light came with a HPS bulb can I effectively veg and flower with this setup or should I a MH buld for veg cycle.

Do you have an exhaust fan. You have to have good air exchange.

You can definitely use an HPS all the way through flowering, but if you can, use a MH during veg. Plants love it, and in my experience, MH runs a few degrees cooler than HPS. I have a 5x5 tent with a 1000watt single ended lamp and it's difficult to keep cool. I keep that room at 60 degrees all day long and the tops still get to 78-80 degrees.

From what I have read on DE lamps, the more you cool it, the less efficient the bulb is. My recommendation would be to add an A/C unit but you said you already bought one. I think once you rig that up your situation will dramatically improve. Hopefully you're workin' on that now

Your english is spotty so I’ll try to answer what I think your saying.
Just get your exhaust fan to vent either outside or into the attic. If the fan is strong enough itllvent the entire room fine regardless of where it’s located.

Thanks man. I hooked this up 4 inch with scrubber outside of tent and got temps into 88 range once I decide how to vent ac Ill be in good shape I think. I realize ducting isn't secured properly, it will be.

I'd raise light all the way up as high as possible. Also need intake holes to be 2x the size of exhaust, so you need at least 8 inches of intake(which i think you mentioned) to equal your 4" exhaust. Stick a regular circulating fan on opposite side of light then your exhaust and blow heat into your exhaust. If you still cannot get temps down to around 78f or 26c I'd run a vent tube from AC to intake port.

Yes sir light all the way up ac up and running. I believe I'm on the right track. I need to modify how I exhaust ac and scrubber I believe attic my best bet just sucks cutting into new house ceiling.

Exhaust from tent to outside of the house. It may be tricky to find a spot. Through a window, ceiling or even to under the house. Just don't vent it back into the room the tent is in or the house. It makes it harder to cool.

Do you have other thermometers taking air temp or is that the only one your using?
To be more to the point, are you taking air temp readings in direct light?

Edit, to take proper air temp readings the thermometer should be in the shade and the air well mixed. That doesn't negate the fact you have to ventilate actively and not passive. But it will make a difference to getting an accurate air temp reading.

Its the only one I have atm I move it around to get and idea of whats up

Im now circulating ac air outside thru a window but really don't like to. I have a fan blowing on plants and an exhaust fan inside of tent blowing out into room. the room temp is 76 (same as house)

This is right the gavita lights aren’t meant to be cooled and boy do they throw some heat.

imo I would do a negative air pressure setup, meaning... Hang your exhaust fan in your tent and have it blowing out which will create negative air pressure and blow out hot stale air and through cracks and such pull in fresh air! Thats the method I use and I also have central air. If your concerned about smell just attach a carbon filter outside of tent on the other end of the inline fan. Worked for me and I font have my light vented at all as you can see. Give it a whirl good luck and happy growing.

Im doing similar but don't close my tent at all. I was actually wondering if I'm getting enough fresh air out of central AC. Im tripping breakers atm so once I fix that problem I'll add scrubber to room and be set up. Plants seem to be curling away from light so I turned down wait a week before I turn back to 1000
