hey everybody i have a friend im tryin to give advice on her first grow she is in mid veg right now and when she woke up this morning there was alot of what appeared to be fruit flies all around the plant any body know how she can get rid of these is it as simple as some fly paper?
thanks for the help

those are more than likely fungus gnats.. they arrive when you over water.. the best thing to do is let the soil dry out as much as you can without harming the plants.. it should be dry the first 2-3 inches if you are using a decent size pot.. the fly paper will kill the adults.. the dry soil should screw up their eggs (they lay eggs in moist soil..). if that doesnt work, get sandbox sand and cover the soil with that.. keep fly paper up to catch remaining ones.

tell her to get a bunch of spiders......
i read that letting the soil at least the top few inches dry helps by killing the eggs, and a sticky trap wouldn't hurt...rob
