So i took some cutting from my Afghan and Romulan just now and i used rockwool with "ROOT TONE" rooting hormone and have them in a container under a heating pad which is about 75 degrees.

How much light should i use?..... and if anyoen has tips for me that would be great....

A simple florourecent light would work...have the temps around 80-85.

Just be sure to keep them moist...spray the inside walls, plants, soil every couple of hours...and make sure you let in fresh air.

Just a couple of small flourescents is okay. Clones don't need much light at all, in fact too much is a bad thing at this stage. As far as rooting clones in rockwool, it can be tricky, especially for the first timer. I failed with rockwool and it was because I let my cubes get too wet. You want the barely DAMP, but not saturated or heavy at all. If they are saturated they most likely will not dry out before the clones dye. Be careful with the humidity dome as well, if the clones stay too damp they will get slimy and start rotting before they ever root.

I built an aerocloner out of a rubbermaid box, it cost about 35 bucks all together and I have had EVERY clone root. And it only needs plain tap water, no rooting hormone, superthrive, nutes or anything. I would highly recomend building one.

i too have an aero cloner.. works awesome.. but i do add powerclone and i also use rootech.. low lighting is fine... just mist often, and they will look worse b4 they look better, but its a very very simple process and you'll get it..

Your humidity dome looks to be a thick rubbermaid type container. Get a 1/4" drill bit and drill 8 holes in it to allow proper ventilation. 2 holes on each long side, 1 on each short side and 2 on top. See picture where I placed red circles (circles not to scale :D ). 1/4" shouldn't be too large to prevent humidity but just large enough to allow for proper air ventilation....your babies NEED air :D

EDIT: The reason I placed the holes where I did was to allow cooler air to enter through the lower holes on side... warm up and move out the holes on top (as hot air rises).... thus proper circulation.

Ok sweet thanks.... Ill do that right now.... How about the perlite, is it better then just sitting in water?

Hmmm... well I don't use rockwool so I'm not sure. I use the soiless starter plugs and they each sit in their own little compartment in a float and grow tray. As far as I know the most important thing is that light doesn't get to the roots.... I think that is a problem some rockwool users have.

Hopefully someone who uses rockwool will come along and give you some more helpful advice on it. :)
