Hey everyone im new to this forum but have been growing for 6yrs now. So for my first post i would like to talk about ffof....i see alot of post about ph problems and flucuations( i to have this problem) if you are using ffof you have to be very careful to what you adjust ur ph to with this soil as i learned the past yr. So here it goes....for the past 5 yrs i was using ffof with no balancing of my water what so ever and had awsome results with tthe likes of sensi star to mk ultra and they are sorta nute sensitive. So i decided to start balancing my water cuz its the right thing to do so i thought. Since last yr i had nothing but problems with burnt leaves, rust spots, etc. I just couldn't pinpoint my problems at all.then i said to myself its gota be the ffof some how and i was correct. I did an expieriment and balanced the water (after letting it disipate the chlorine for 24 hrs) and ran it thru the ffof and to my amazement(and shock,) the runoff was 5.3....WOW. so then i took my water which reads 8.5 right from the tap and ran that thru the ffof and to my amazement again it came out perfect at 6.7...thats almost 2points and explains why ive had problems cuz it was makin the soil acidic...i used a digital and backed it up with the old gh drip ph system and that read the same. So bottom line is that ffof is a strong buffer so be careful and test it the way i did b4 u do anything. Since my pineapple chunk grow ive had no problems the only thing ii do now is check the runoff after each watering cuz i add nutes..earthjuice bloom which will lower ur ph a bit but still keeps it in the 6 range with the tap water...i guess the old saying is true ....if its not broke don't fix it....happy growing all.
