Food Saver- Vacuum Sealers

Hello.
I just bought a Food Saver at Costco. I'm just curious if anyone has used them for longer term storage for their dried cured bud. And if so, any tips, ideas, things to watch for..?

Thanks.

They work ok. Mason jars are better and food saver has an attachment for jars. When using bags stop the vac before it fully compresses the bud. You want most of the air out, not all of it

Thank you. With the quantity I have to put up, mason jars are just too much. The vacuum bags can lay flat and be stacked in bins, put in garage for out of site, out of smell (?) storage.

I'd better get trimming. …

Look into gamma seal lids with food grade 2 and 5 gallon buckets, all sold at winco in the bulk food dept. By far your best option for quantity, maintaining quality, and smell.

odor vapor molecules will eventually permeate those types of plastic. you’d have to use a multilayer structure with high oxygen transfer rating barrier properties like a metallized biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate. ie Mylar. I believe the odor will eventually penetrate this as well. may fool people but not dogs

interesting point. I used vac seal bags for years and I could always get a faint wiff of weed when using them, especially when they sat around for awhile. I figured something like this was going on. Also not to mention all the contact points from plastic to to weed, it just seems to stick all the nice crystals to it. Gamma lids and buckets are only way to go, imo.

that said, i did use seal a meal when it first came out years ago. i wonder if the smell eventually permeates the buckets too and how long that takes? and how about the rubber seal between the mason jar and the lid?:)

I dont think it permeates the buckets and if it does it takes a really long time. Ive stored stuff in them for over a year with no issues. I do notice that over time the rubber seal oring will need to be changed or cleaned, as it get dirty, leak and smell a bit, but thats it
