Flushing first DWC grow

Hey everyone, as the title says I'm flushing my first DWC grow and I'm concerned about the response in my leaves. To start, I currently have both soil and DWC on the go, my soil plants look like they're yellowing as expected but the DWC plant look more like a mag deficiency than a plant using its stored up energy.

The process I followed is; I waited until I had cloudy trichs then mixed up a fresh Rez with 50% nutes and 2ml/L of gro tech final flush and ran that for 48 hours, then I mixed up 1/4 strength nutes and have been running just h20 and 1/4 strength for 5 days and I'm about to switch to just plain water tomorrow for a final 3-5 days. I have not locked out the plants with a 7ph as 1 grower I know told me to do, haven't found anyone else saying to do it so my ph has been between 5.7-6.2 the whole time.
Please have a look at the pics, forgive the hps yellow glare. Any advice you can offer will be appreciated, also if it's normal for DWC plant to get the rust spots I'd be eager to know that also.image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

I'd say they were overfed but not enough to ruin them. They should still taste fine. I don't know if flushing really works but it can't hurt either on overfed plants. I think you will be ok. I would suggest backing off the nutes next time 10-20%.

You really think it's nute burn? None of this appeared until I backed off the nutes and used the flushing agent
This pic is before flush, without yellow hps effect.

This is the day after flush began

Sounds like you should skip the flush next time...I've never seen solid evidence of why to do it anyway, everythings just heresay

People will argue the point to hell on flushing vs not flushing. Your example right here is some great evidence on why not to flush. But anyway i'm not here to argue either point cuz i have no clue myself, but to your question, i guess its too late now to fix anything by now, aren't you planning to harvest any day now?

The one pic, hard to see cuz lighting, but looks like calmag deficiency, not something normal or that you'd want to induce. It's just stressfull for the plant and my goal is to keep the plant happy till i decapitate it, skin it and burn it. Then bury the remains. Like my ex-wife

Well that's a new one on me. I have tried flushing plants in the past and they just got light green then yellow and then some leaves got wilted brown. I can't figure out why yours got that rusty color with some leaf deformation that looks like classic over-feeding to my eyes. I don't know what to think anymore. Your plant looked very nice before you flushed it, not over-fed. I would say in your case flushing had a negative effect.

For dwc just swap to straight water 1-3 days before chop. No flush.

I run DWC and flush the last 3 weeks and a minimume of 2 weeks. Straight potash for a week, clear for a week and then water for a week.

After feeding them chemicals for months our plants could never clean themselves out in a few days, and I surely don't want to be smoking it or tasting it in our products. And we run one of the cleanest nute systems on the market but it's still synthetic.

Do your plants get that rusty color when you flush like the OP?

No they don't. They get a lovely yellow as the plant cleans out residuals from the leaves. OP has other issue's going on from the way his leaves are cupped down and curling. A toxicity issue that was there before the flush, not because of the flush.

Yellowing of leaves, in the last few days of the second week of flush. Any healthy plant can go a week or two without showing signs of trouble. Water temps and ph levels being the only factors left to look at. KIMG0556.jpg

Your pics about look very green..

I wish I could contribute something positive to yet another "flushing" post...
:wall: I'm sorry guys, I just don't see the point of starving a plant for positive effect.

You want good tasting buds? I recommend not giving it toxic levels of nutrients, and only giving it what it needs in the first place; hen there's no need to flush.

The plant does not starve, it feeds off the reserves the plant naturally stores in the leaves and stalks, this includes burning off of any residuals left by the chemicals we use especially bloom boosters.

A good read for anyone that's interested in more information on Flushing.

Here's a couple quotes from that bullshit article.

"The other fact to get clear is that flushing only works if you do it with a hydroponics flushing formula that has the right stuff in it."
"News flash: flush regardless of whether you’re growing in supersoil, all-organics, or hydroponics."
"Flushing with water alone won’t do it. GrowDaddy and his crew have tested Flora Kleen, Clearex, Canna Flush, and Flawless Finish."

One video of reasoning along with hundreds of others, for Flushing, are on a contradiction to hundreds of others that are anti-flushing. Both claim scientific method and reasoning. Choose your own path...

And another - https://www.rollitup.org/t/the-truth-about-flushing.409622/

Overall the whole theory is flushing uses nutes up from the leaves or whatever. But if you read this one the theory is that the plant cannot receive ALL of the required nutes from those left over nutes in the leaves or whatever. So with this you are "starving"(opposing theory) because it's not getting ALL required nutes. Who knows...test it yourself and do what you think works best I guess.

So what exactly is your argument ? Calling something bullshit and then attempting to validate it by insulting me isn't much to go on.
