FLUORESCENT LIGHTS and timers

Is it a bad idea to use timers with FLUORESCENT LIGHTS?
Is you have safely, could you let me know the make and mod.

I've used two types of timers with up to six 23w CFLs tied to them. One was an HTG brand timer made specifically for higher voltage. The other was the cheapest one they sell at Walmart. $4.50. They both worked fine.

i have a 6 cfl reflector connected to 1 plug. i use that on a timer. and that on an extension, and that on a surge protector

works fine.

Same here, got a cheap one like $7, and it works like a charm.
Why are you asking? I heard about hps fucking timers up but never fluorescents.

I had eight 40w output OttLite flouros on timers, and every day one more of them would be burnt out.

why dont u put all ur cfls onto one plug. put them on an extension then put the extension on a timer.

there u go, all ur lights on and off at once. i put a surge protector on my setup just to be abit more safe.

ive got 400 watt of enviro plugged in a timer and no probs six months on and same as smokeh use surge protect.
