ik so i have 9 plants. i started flowerin them today. all are about 25 days old. 3 are showing good pre flowers. i am doing L.S.T. on 3 others. and the last 3 i topped cause they arent showing pre flowers yet. i have had them under 3 6500k 23watt cfls. they are all about 4-6 inches tall. should i get more lights? i was thinkin soo. if so, how many more lights should i get what wattages? i dont check ph and dont have a tester. they are in mircle grow time relase potting soil. the pots are 6 inches and bigger. 2 are in polor pop cups that i just trasplanted yesterday. will that stunt there growth? please any help is great:)!

If you are only using (3) 23 watt CFL's for a total of (9) plants, then yes you are right in thinking you need more lights. I've been following some successful CFL journals and they all use more than that. Those journals are a good source of info, as well as some of the FAQ's and tutorials posted in this section. You will need to get a bunch of 2700k CFL's for the flowering period. I plan to do a CFL grow in the near future in a small space, and have (3) 68kwatt CFL's. I am only going to be growing 1 - 2 plants max. From everything I've read, the results from using more wattage is worth it.

I would say that you should get 4x42 watt soft white 2700k cfls and and atleast 6x26 watt soft white cfl 2700k. check out my grow 1 plant under 10x27watt 4x42 watt;)

yeah you defienately need more light, and you need 2700k light spectrum for flowering. i heard it helps if you mix them though, so ide keep the 23w 6500k's you got on and get a pack of some 42w 2700k and maybe some 23w 2700k to add to it.

If you are going to be having that many plants, they will without a doubt require more light than they are receiving now. You should check out my Grow Box setup, I am down to three ladies but running 14 CFL's in total. Its been a great success so far.

I began flowering when most reached about 8-10 inches tall. I don't know what kind of area you have for your grow or whether you have clones or will be doing some sexing, so its hard to say just how many lights you are going to need. For the veg cycle, you want to get a bunch of the 23W 100 equivalent daylight bulbs and for flowering you want to use the 42W 150 equivalent day light bulbs. I did leave a few of the 100's in for my flowering stage, but removed about 6 when flowering began. You can fight these bulbs at Home Depot or Lowe's, no problem. http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs...langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100660381 The big boy 42's are about 12 bucks a pop. If you have a local hydroponics store or feel comfortable ordering something online, you should look into the big daddy of them all and get some 68W CFL's with 200 equivalent.

I'm assuming you have a decent sized grow area if you have that many plants to start with, so if I were you I would be adding more lights. Get some of the Y Sockets from the electrical supplies isle at Home Depot (about 3 bucks) and expand your to 10-15 lights. You'll be very please with the decision and will notice a major difference.

Good luck!

I think I would even increase it more than that. The general rule of thumb I think with most CFL's is that each plant should have at least one light each for themselves. The more the merrier, don't be shy. For what you can put it together for cost wise (under 50 bucks) get yourself up in the 10-12 bulb range and there will then be no question of whether or not they have enough light from veg cycle right thru your flowering.

Buy a real light (HID) or grow less plants. Are you planning to cull males? Did you start from seed or clone?

CFL's are a waste of time.

i started from seed. i think im just gonna take the others outside. ill keep 3 inside to flower. but thats it. i have 3 23 watt 6500k cfs and 2 15 watt 2700k cfls flowerin them now
