Flower under veg lighting?

Would it be possible to flower under veg lighting (T5 6400K) for the first two weeks and then move to HPS lighting? Would this shorten the time needed in the HPS lit room? Would it decrease yield or cause any other problems? Thanks.
 
you got somethin wrong. you can grow with either of those lights. vegging means to have the lights on 24 hours a day or 18 hrs on 6 off. flowering is 12 hrs on 12 hrs off.
 
No nothing wrong, but I may have been unclear. I currently have a flower room and I am upgrading my veg room. If I can flower plants in my veg room (by adjusting light cycle) and shorten time in the flower room I will buy a larger light setup for the veg room. Growing a 10 week plant in 8 weeks would give an extra crop per year.
 
Some will say that your goal is 10000 lumens so; you might not reach that goal with t5's 8's etc but then again maby you can. I havent experimented with this idea; I love my HPS's ^.^
 
Wouldn't you like to pull an extra crop per year (8wk cycle) from your HPS? In a small space (1 m^3) I can get 25-30k lumens from a 4' six bulb T5 unit. If I wanted to do it right I would change the light spectrum, but that becomes one more hassle. I'll probably try it out but it won't be for a couple months. I would love to hear if anyone has experience with something like this, or using MH in similar way.
 
maby your on to something here then eh? i might have to get like 6 more sets of t5's :p
