flower techniques...?

as for flowering, how does one initiate said process? just switch the timer to 12/12? Is there a step in between switching lighting cycles? I looked through the FAQ and search for threads where this may have been answered but with no conclusions. Any techniques/methods would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! It really is as simple as changing the light schedule to 12/12.

Things to consider...
the 12 hrs of uninterrupted darkness is the important thing. No lights should hit your plants during dark time!
you should also switch your nutrient solution to the bloom formula.
