Well its not really a farm its a tent. I started this venture in April 2019, I am still new to all this, getting my second grow up and running right now. I did some upgrades for the second round.

On of the first things I learned early is I had some things wrong, mainly my light and carbon filter. My first light was a 315 CMH, nice light and well liked on the forum, it was too small for my 5X5 tent. When I bought it I was told by the shop worker it was enough for my space. And not knowing any better thats what I ended up with. I got plans for the CMH!

The filter works great, however the guy (same one that sold me the light) sold me an inline filter. When I got it out of the box I was confused, in my first thread I was asking what the hell is this. So I used what I had.

Here is the Active Air filter with Active Air 6" fan and the 315 CMH.

tn_IMG_0210.JPG

So after some research I settled in on a new light, and when I was getting ready to hang it I stood there looking at the current set up and was thinking how much space the filter and fan took up. With the size of the new light it would only be able to go up to the bottom of the filter.

Then it hit me get it out of there, I have an inline why not take advantage of it. I guess I put it in because thats what everyone does. So $20 at lowes and about 20 minutes it was.

tn_IMG_0218.JPG

Now I got all this open space.

tn_IMG_0219.JPG

And here is my new light.

tn_IMG_0213.JPG

Timber Fatty VS.

But before I could start my next grow I knew I had another problem, I needed more power. In the last weeks of the last round on a wicked hot humid day I tried running my portable AC and dehuey at the same time, and blew a fuse it was only 15A. So I had to do something, as I need to run both those at the same time and with the Fatty pulling roughly 8A on it own, along with fans and what not.

So started looking into things. I had two electricians come out to give me a bid to run a circuit or two to the room. The first one I never heard from. The second one kinda beat around the bush on giving me a price and after a week said $750. I knew what was going on, it was running the wires thru the crawl space, about 80 ft each way of crawling.

So I called on my father in law for his opinion, he has been in the area his whole life I transplanted from Detroit 13 years ago, he is a good man to have around. He said what I wanted to hear,"I know a guy"! He is friends with a guy I never met till a week or so ago, a retired electrician who looks for smaller jobs for something to do and a few bucks on the side.

He came out and quickly figured out I had 4 20A breakers already in my panel not hooked to anything. So we settled on me buying material, and paying him $240 all in cost me $400. However I was the one pulling the wire in the crawl space.

The room is small so it was hard taking a picture.

tn_IMG_0217.JPG

On top of the there are 2 separate handy boxes spaced to allow my timer and fan control, the top pair have there own 20A circuit, and the box on the bottom with the 4 plugs is on another 20A circuit. Thats for the AC, in tent fans and an automated watering system.

tn_IMG_0216.JPG

While I was in the crawl space I ran a second 12/3 wire, its not hooked up as of yet just did it for future proofing. After Christmas I am going to put 3X3 tent in the room also for vegging and will be moving this out of the way and placing the new tent here.

tn_IMG_0208.JPG

So this way when I decide where I need sockets the wire is right under the room in the basement, no more crawl space action. All we got to do is hook up the wire thats already in the panel, and come through the floor with conduit and place sockets. So I got access to another 40A when needed.

I have a few more small upgrades coming in the next couple days that I will share.

Now a little info on the second grow.

The strain is Bubble Gum Boogie by Moscaseeds.

tn_IMG_0223.JPG

All the seeds sprouted tap roots and are now in cups, only complaint is there was suppose to be 8 seeds in the pack and there were only 7.

Growing in Nectar for the Gods #4 and will be using their sample pack of nutrients as well.

tn_IMG_0206.JPG

Well thanks for checking out what I got going on, and hopefully you'll follow along. Please feel free to comment in this thread, I need all the help I can get.

Thanks Diggs99, glad to have you on board for this, your watering system design will be getting set up in a week or so but going to wait until they are in bigger pots. I hope your right about the light, I was just setting the timer and the Fatty is getting it's first full day test today.

Man going into crawl spaces and attics were the worst part of doing electrical work. I bet you take more pride in that run seeing as you did the nitty gritty work.

Can't wait to see your plants blow up under that Timber.

It was a pain in the ass, I am 6'2" about 270lbs. at one point I said out loud to myself "The things someone will do just to grow some fucking weed"! I am just glad to have it done, and also glad to have run the spare wire for future use, the next phase will be a simple hook up in the basement and main panel. So yea there is some pride there, and soreness.

Looks clean nice progress, can't wait to see how that timber light performs. When I first got my house I spent more time in the crawl space than I ever thought I would. Had to replumb the whole place it's really tight in a few spots in mine I thought I was stuck one time. Its shitty work but better than paying someone to do it. Should have a nice little operation once you get your veg tent rolling too.

Replumb the whole house from a crawl space..........too you sir I tip my hat. The veg tent idea came to me the other day, I figured why not since I got the power to do it. What I am really looking forward to is the water system. When they are small its not a big deal, watering is somewhat of a bitch when in flower. I also look forward to the veg tent.

As it stands now, I have 4 seedlings out of the 7. I am going to give the remaining 3 a couple days to see if anything happens. If not I am going to drop a few more seeds and have a 2 strain grow, don't want to waste the space and energy on 4 plants.

I hate it when you get stragglers. My candy rain pheno hunt has two stragglers out of 10 that may get drowned out by the other plants.

Moving right along...

Yesterday I placed a 4x4 flood try in the tent for the upcoming watering upgrade, no way in hell I was going to trust the liner that came with the tent.

tn_IMG_0236.JPG

Here are the chicks. Well the ones that came up so far.

tn_IMG_0237.JPG

The ones who still haven't.

tn_IMG_0238.JPG

So last night I made a decision to drop a couple more seeds today just it case they don't make it. If by some chance they sprout after all looks like its a party then.

I don't have a lot of seeds, out of the ones I have on hand I chose Barney's 8 Ball Kush. I got a 3 pack and figured it would be worth a shot.

tn_IMG_0241.JPG

So thats about that. Since I got you on the line let ask your opinion on something. If this is crazy just tell me. I have a problem that I can't figure out, in the back right corner of my tent its soon going to be difficult to have access to the light strap.

tn_IMG_0239.JPG

This corner is in the corner of the room and I keeping thinking about how to go about adjusting it when I need to. This thing is not light, Timber has it listed at 45.8 lbs shipping weight was 66 lbs, all I know is its heavy. Plus trying to get in there as the plants grow. Should I just set the light to one height and use the dimmer, I do have a lux meter.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004K0A7I6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Here is the crazy part, putting one of these in the top of the tent.

https://www.amazon.com/Ironton-Electric-110-Lb-Single-Line-Double-Line/dp/B07N31MV4K/ref=sxbs_sxwds-stvp?keywords=small+electric+wench+110v&pd_rd_i=B07N31MV4K&pd_rd_r=fc8ceaaf-733e-45fc-8cf6-dad1e9b1bd42&pd_rd_w=FCuPU&pd_rd_wg=ZTiDL&pf_rd_p=a6d018ad-f20b-46c9-8920-433972c7d9b7&pf_rd_r=14S74G5972YYZMR9YV11&qid=1566217787&s=hi

Putting longer eye bolts in the fixture to clear the heatsinks and running equal length cable or light duty chain to the hook centered above the light. Then I can go up or down with the push of a button. Since the carbon filter and fan are no longer in the tent I got the head room I feel. If I need something made to pull it off I have a good friend who is a machinist that has a complete shop in his pole barn at home.

Hi @Flatrate

Saw your post - I like the automated hoist idea very much. We did a similar build with a crank style hoist for a large area and it worked well. Let us know if you need any assistance, looking good so far.

Have a good day.

Best,
Dan

Thanks for checking in Dan, if your in favor of the hoist idea I am probably going to run with it. I may call on you if I run into a snag somewhere.

Good deal Diggs borrow away! I thought about the hoist a lot at work last night and decided to run with it. Honestly I am a little tired of spending money on this operation, but I've already went this far so might as well see it through.

Well something is up. Today I was placing a cheap Vivosun 6" inline fan to upgrade my intake to the tent. Honestly was expecting mediocre performance, this thing moves some air. My tent started blowing up, my extraction fan was on low, so I gave that nob a twist. Nothing changed. When I placed the deal on top of the tent and tested it I sucked the sides in. I checked some things and there is minimal flow on either side of the fan/filter. The fan sounds like its trying to do it part. I'll pull it a apart tonight to see whats up. It's either the fan or the filter.

On positive news the seeds from Barneys sprouted very well, and are now in cups. Hopefully 7 girls at this party.

Carbon filter is the culprit. I took it down and separated the fan and filter. The fan blows/sucks like a broke hooker, I tried to push/pull air through the filter, next to nothing. I just bought a regular 6" carbon filter off Amazon should be here tomorrow. It will be going in the top of the tent, I will try another inline filter after this run so after the new year. Just don't feel like ponying up the cash right now.

Plant update.
Bubble Gum Boogie. The 4 plants are doing great, the other 3 still nothing and are about to get tossed.
8 Ball Kush. 2 are already out of the soil, still waiting on the third.

Well things didn't go quite as planned, but I made progress. Got home from the grind this morning and started taking things down. Got the new carbon filter in, works like a champ so glad about that.
Hanging the lift worked out well, played hell trying to get it to balance, good enough for today. I lost a little more top space than I thought I would, as of right now I got 54 inches from the floor to the bottom of the light. Still thinks of a better way to balance the unit, and maybe gain a few more inches of height. Anyways here is how its looking.

Here is the little intake fan upgrade that helped me figure out about the carbon filter.

Update.

The lift was in for about 22 hours before it got took out. Was cool and it worked great however after crunching some numbers it didn't make sense. After final pot height and light spaced 18 inches above canopy, it was roughly 20-22 inches max of grow space. Plus when this is a flower tent only I won't have to move the light much.

Bubble Gum Boogie.
