Flashlight LEDs

Has anyone done a grow light build with Flashlight LEDs like the Cree XML-2 or the Luminus SST-40 ?

All of my experience with modding lights is with those kinds of LEDs. They come in a few different temps, are cheap even when mounted on solid copper sinks and easy to work with. Just wondering if it's been done before.

Oh yeah. https://www.rollitup.org/search/85191298/?q=Cree+XML-2&o=date

The flashlight in my pocket will grow a seedling and it's only $89. ;) Available in various color temps and CRI.(:
Are you modding flashlights or grow lights?
I've been modding flashlights for a few years and was just wondering if anyone else was using those kinds of LEDs to make grow lights. I've got boxes of those LEDs and drivers laying around, figured if they were viable to use, why not use what's on hand vs spending more money on more stuff. I may need to get other bins with lower temps. I really like the 5000k - 6500k for flashlights and weapon lights. Might not be so good for growing though.

I did my first grow with leftovers of what I had building my flashlights/bikelights

XPG-2, XPE, XTE and XML all, mixed together. At 125W the setup did me more than justice even in the small space I've been running

Spectrum was from 2700K to 6500K

That’s awesome. I have an old nightrider 600 that I always wondered if it would grow anything, I think it probably could. Pic is 5 feet away from the wall12434A91-68CB-4437-B2D3-3DEFE6EB870B.jpeg
