It'll be fine for vegging, so long as the bulbs are flourescent like they sound they are. During vegging your plants will grow to about 18 inches. But during flowering your plants can triple height in the first few weeks. Of course you could always remove the lid but then you'd need a place to hang the lights.

Oh, by the by, your handle? I'm reading it as cricket mad, but this can't be right as you are from the U.S.

Talking of Wall-Mart, they are the owners of one of our biggest supermarket chains... ASDA. Everyone thought that the new ownership would mean Americanised supermarkets but nothing has changed. Wall-Mart bought the chain some years ago now.

Anyhow, I hope I've helped. Potroast, Widow and Gnome will probably, no definitely, do a better job.

Yeah flouro for a couple weeks of veg, then mh for the next 2-4 weeks (depending upon size of plants, whether you feel they're ready for flowering etc). When you start flowering it is best to add an extra HPS lamp to maximise your yield. Or you could just buy a HPS bulb and switch them over. Or you could just buy the HPS all the way through if money is tight, as this is the best light for flowering. The MH is best for vegging; not sure yet where I stand on that score. So I'll just say that MH is fine to use all the way through too. But certainly the best skunk is grown, both stages, using both lights at the same time. You decide.

10 from seed is fine. I've noticed a couple of other people on this site smoke about an oz a week and as I do the same I'm assuming that this is a standard. So fingers crossed, off 5 fem's you should grow enough till your next crop comes in, unless you get into cloning where you can shave 2 weeks off veg'.

They are MH bulbs, or metal halide. You will need just one of at least 400w. 1000w would be best. You'll need to buy the casing for it too and a ballast if you can't run it off the mains. Same goes for the HPS or High Pressure Sodium, at least 400 but a 1000 if you can afford it.

I actually wanted 3 600w to start with but the warehouse we went to only had 400w, but they run off the mains and we got them for a bargain 165 quid Sterling, or about $260 the three. I was going to buy more lights but circumstances decided differently and we now have 20 females budding beneath the 2 400w MH's and 1 400w HPS. I alternate the bulbs between the different fittings each day, so they all get equal red light during this important stage.

if money is tight what would be better 2 400 watt mh bulbs or 1 400 watt mh and 1 400 hps? or something else?
also whats a ballast? ill look into in
thanks

One of each and use them all the way through. If you get 1 400w Mh & 1 400w Hps this will be perfect for four or five plants.

A ballast or transformer is what you plug into the mains socket. You then plug your lights into the ballast. You can buy lights that run straight off the mains but these lights will have a ballast built in. I have these lights but they are heavy so you may struggle hanging them on your own. They're much cheaper than buying lights and ballast seperately.
