Fish hydrolysate shelf life?

Hey RIU, hope everyone's year is off to a good start and everything is growing well.

I made some fish hydrolysate and it's been sitting for about 7-8 weeks and I'm just wondering if anybody has knowledge of how long it should last.

Ingredients:
Blended whole salmon
Rice powder
Pineapple
Coconut water
Distilled water
Molasses
Phosphoric acid
Tarantula microbial
Mycorrhizae

I was half following a recipe half shooting from the hip on this one. The good news is that so far, the plants seem to really dig it.

Cheers :bigjoint:

I have a bottle from 2016.

You see, when they make the stuff. They make is so acidic the shelf life is way more then a month. It probably sat on a shelf or in a shipping box for over a year before you got it.

There's never really a time the stuff is 'fresh'.

Be super careful with the liquid fish. It'll drop PH below 4.5.

Hey, thanks for the response. You must have misread my post, I made it myself. I can see how it's never fresh, but was more wondering that because I made it that it may lack the acid etc. to preserve it.

In that case. Shelf life is a few hours before it starts to rot. Anything fish won't keep. I don't know what acid the Alaskan fish guys add to their stuff.

Well, I put phosphoric acid, I used it last week and this week and like I said, the plants are pretty stoked.

I'm not sure how much phosphoric acid they add, but it's a LOT. Neptune's harvest drops my PH quite a bit. Hard to say how long yours will last, but I'd wouldn't use a bottle of opened Neptune's Harvest past 6 months-that's just me though. Sealed it would last for years.

It’ll last for a while if it was prepared properly and then stored with a tight seal in a cool dark place. I would wanna use it up within a 6 month period tho.

what was you're experience and feelings on Neptunes harvest? recently just started playing with it every few weeks and they plants seem to like it so far, haven't noticed any issues with the acidity of it

im assuming you didn't ferment it for 6+ months?

you can of course play with all the different inputs but generally its
-thing(s) I want to ferment
-sugar

this is the KNF recipe below 1FC69890-24E2-46A7-AB4C-9298A4BACBF7.jpegEFBA1047-562A-4828-9819-03C3B43B0230.jpeg45209B6F-9E43-40F6-B943-494A3F05AEED.jpeg24BBF789-99C2-446B-8FF8-3ECD467B6D3C.jpeg3B84182E-1FCA-42D8-9D0D-F8D5D2571007.jpeg

That's awesome, thanks for sharing your recipe, I really appreciate that. I think the way I did it should work, it doesn't smell offensive. So far I've just been using it in teas and aerating them for 24-48 hours because I figured it may still be a little hot. Thanks again, just the response I was looking for.
