First weeks of a plants life...

hey there,
sooooo ive been reading a round the threads and find that some people wont give their plants nutes for like the first few weeks?!...im growing hydroponically and my question is how can plants create new leaf and stem matter when the only nutes they have are those within the seed and the light they receive?
 
Anyone?
I have just put 4 black kush seedlings into my rockwell so an answer soon would rly be appreciated :D
 
um i dunno how....but they do just fine. If you give them newts too soon (at least with my experience in soil) they stretch and fall over.

I am by no means an expert. I suggest you experiment.
