first timer question

I read that with a sativa dominate plant that the trichs should be cloudy with a few amber in it to harvest is this right

that is to be said about any indoor strain depending on your preference. You just described when peek potency hits

this should answer any questions you have. be careful, people who are uninformed will say that you WANT amber (i've even heard some people who say they wait until 50% amber) when in fact, you're trying to harvest at the point when the greatest number of trics possible are cloudy/milky. obviously you will always have a little amber when you chop at the right time, as trics on different parts of the plant mature at different rates. hope this helps
