First Time Outdoor

It's my first time growing outdoor, and I have the general idea of what to do, I've read the first time growers posts. I've had some experience growing indoor, but before I was done my house was broken into. I'm starting out with Sour Diesel seeds I got from a medical patients forum. I started germination yesterday. I hope to make lots of clones since I will probably lose a lot of medicine to bugs and animals. I will be picking up a t5 6500k 4600 lumen setup in a few days for my starts and my soon to be clones. I'm out in Oregon so it's cold as hell right now, 44 to be exact. I hope I'm on track to plant by June. I've got a few spots outside set up for transplanting into, I've tested the pH at 7 at all of the sites. The soil is really loamy and airy like peat moss. I'll start posting pics in a few days when germination has finished. Any help would be great, Thanks.

I picked up a 4ft. 4600 Kelvin full spectrum 4000 or so lumen fluorescent light today (85 bucks). It's got it's own stand and adjustable for height so I can get it right on the plants when the time comes. Also got a brick of coconut grow medium, looks like awesome stuff, I put water on it and it grew bigger than my whole tray!! I got everything set up and I found out my seeds haven't sprouted (in 2 days) I had them in a semi-wet towel but I don't think it was wet enough. Or maybe 60 degrees wasn't warm enough? Usually I have seeds germinated in about 2-4 days. Maybe it's the strain, maybe I'm being too impatient. I wet the paper towel more and raised the temp to 90 so I hope it works. I have a few backup seeds in case everything goes to hell. I didn't take pictures cause I couldn't find my camera.

Half have germinated. A few that sprouted 2 days ago are already popping through the coir fiber, I think they were in too shallow. Put 'em in the window, cause its still too cold upstairs even under the light, don't want to shock them. (It's about 44 degrees) We have 13 hours of sun for now so I hope that's ok. Check out my album for pics..... + Rep for suggestions!!

About to cover the new sprouts up. The ones on the right are breaking through soil already! I think I put them too shallow...... I covered them up again with more coir fiber.

The light setup for veg until transplant.

I transplanted into my 2x4 ft. closet yesterday. I bought a 1000 watt metal halide system. I got some Pure Blend Pro Grow 3-2-4 veg formula from the hydro store. I lined the closet with 90% reflective panda film. I've got 11 transplants now, but one looks like its about to keel over. All of the plants shown are (supposedly feminized) sour diesel. Also shown are my water/nute tank, I've got a pondmaster 350 running the 1/2 inch pvc running .5 gal drippers 2 minutes per day. I am wondering if the light is too far away? Does anybody know how wide this bulb reaches? I feel like if I drop it more, it will make the plants on the ends bend in. Can somebody help me on this?

looks good so far. I'm working on a similar idea, starting my ladies off inside and planning on moving them outside. I'm having trouble germinating most of my seeds though. Anyway, looking forward to following your journals. Good luck!

I forgot to specify conditions, my room is running at about 60% humidity at 90 degrees F. I'm running my light 18 on 6 off. I've got fans moving air within and out of the room, but it still stays at 90. I would like to drop the temp but my light system is pumping out heat like mad!!!! I'm hoping they don't shoot up too fast from the heat!!!

Had some problems today, power went out for about 5 mins, I checked on em and half the plants' leaf tips are yellow... One of them all the leaves are solid yellow. So I dumped the nutrient solution, flushed the soil, moved the light up more, don't know what the problem is, maybe heat? The temp stays at 90 or so... I tested the pH at 6.8, I made a post on here and I guess that's too high, I'm supposed to be at 5.8-6.3 so I guess I'm picking up some pH down tomorrow. Also I hear the temp is too high, I'm supposed to stay under 85 I hear, somebody said 75, that will be a task since I don't have a fan pumping my light heat. We'll see how it turns out.

Ok, I just finished putting in all new vents and 2 new fans. I still can't get the temp under 85. My hood doesn't have a diffuser so I think that's all I can do. I did notice that I was using a 1/4 teaspoon for measurements thinking it was a full teaspoon, so as far as nutrients go, I was coming up short. I also added phosphoric acid to lower my pH. The water measures 6 now I think, but soil and water together measure 6.7

(DAY 23) Ok got some new pictures for you guys. All my plants were fixed by adjusting the heat to 85 and pH to 6.5 except for one that's tips are burnt, and one's a little yellow. I got 2 fans running 24/7 light at 18/6 and water at 1200 hour for 3 mins. and 1800 hour for 2 mins

Since I've starting venting my room once a day and boosted the nutrient level, I've had some mad growth. Not upward growth, but bushy growth, hard to believe these are sativas. I changed watering to 5 mins at 1200 and 5 mins at 1800. The last 2 pics are of my retarded plants, one's super dark green and droopy and the other's just anorexic. See for yourself!

Today I checked the room temp at 90, pretty high. I changed nutes to 2/3 tbsp per gal (recommended is 1 per gal for mid size veg) and got the pH right around 5.5-6. My big grower got stunted, and my retards stayed retarded. I have yellow upward curling on one plant and yellow spots on a few more. I also changed watering to 8 mins each at 1200 and 1800

Leaves got darker today, super dark. Leaves were also droopy. 2 or 3 leaves are nute burning and brushing off at the tips. The bigger plants have up to 8 bud sites each now. The tank was almost at the pump so I have to check on it now every 4 or 5 days while it's at 8mins 2x daily. That or I have to get a bigger tank. I wont post pictures today, there was minimal growth.

Lots of yellowing in the lower leaves today. I think it's because I shorted the nutrients last week. I put 3 1/2 tbsp in the 5 gal tank so I hope that fixes them. Also the plants are starting to look really sativa, very thin fan blades.

I checked my plants yesterday and they were almost dead, it looked like they had too much water and too little nitrogen. All the plants were yellowing from the bottom up. I cut the watering from 8mins 2x daily to 5mins 2x daily. I clipped all the yellow leaves and made some cuttings into grodan rock wool to try and salvage the plants. I realized I hadn't been shaking the nutrient bottle before pouring and it's a lot darker now. The plants are doing a little better today.

They're doing better today, just a little over-nute cupping on 2 of the plants. I had to take one of the plants out to use a double feed line on another plant as a control, (I currently only have one control plant with a double feed line, and it's doing great) but I took the pictures before I did it. (it's the bottom right one)

I cleaned out my tank today, much needed. Same old problems, a few rogue nitrogen-needing fan leaves and some burnt tips, the drippers are far from uniform in nutrient delivery. Other than that everything is fine, I cut out some panda film and cut slits for the plants to fit into, just under the canopy so the light doesnt evaporate all of the root system water. I added a tsp of epsom salt to the tank. Somebody please post if I'm forgetting to do something.

It's been a while since I posted, exactly a month actually. I've been real busy working. Anyway here is the only picture you need to see, yeah I've been neglecting them, I forgot to refill my nutrient tank, and I thought they were dead! Turns out I got to em just in time and they came back to life after a while.
