First time hydro setup: suggestions and comments encouraged!

Hey guys,
So i've been growing in soil since I started growing, and just recently thought I would start a hydro setup for the next cycle. Since i'm new to hydro, I just went off what I had seen friends doing and read on RIU. I posted pictures below hoping you more experienced hydro growers could help me out! I started with a 5 gal bucket and bought the lid/net pot combo. Then I got some tubing, air pump/stone, "hydro halo" (for recirculating drip), and all the necessary odds, ends and connector pieces to set it up.

After starting with just the bucket/lid, I drilled 3 holes into the top of the lid and put grommets in them to prevent leakage or water and light. Then I ran my air line from the pump to the air stone through one hole, the water from the submerged water pump (to recirculate to the halo) in the second hole, and the power cord for the water pump through the third hole.

So im thinking, ill have the air stone supply oxygen to the root system, and have the halo serve as a drip for the roots up top. My concerns are whether or not my equipment/method is sufficient. I've heard of running the drip (the pump runs @ 66g/h) in 15 minute intervals to prevent any "over watering" (which sounds ridiculous in a hydro setup..) and making sure the air pump circulates the oxygen to the roots enough, this particular pump is rated at 3.2L/m.

Let me know what you think, thanks in advance!

Seems well thought out. I don't have any suggestions, looks like you've done your research. I find plants take a lot of oxygen though, I'm not sure how much air mine pumps, its a fish tank pump from wal mart rated at 50 gallons I believe, my plants still droop a bit with both lines into one tank. For the drip thing, I don't use it, but I think it'd be great for when the plants are babies and not reaching the water. I always have to hand water the plants for the first few weeks until they develop good roots. Once they are established it won't really matter if the cubes are wet or not though because the water being transported goes through those roots anyway.

Wats up nusky? Quick Q. How big is your babi? I'm just starting a hydro setup and I have a petco dual air pump, I don't know what its rated, Do you know of a better or descent pump?

well I'm not growing right now. Once it gets a decent size it started to slightly droop, I know its oxygen because it would perk up when I put hydrogen peroxide in the res (it turns to oxygen). I also recently grew a dwarf tomato plant hydroponically with the same air pump from wal mart and it too was pretty droopy when it got close to flowering. I don't think it really harms the plant in any way at all, its just not as pleasant to look at.

What I did find to help was taking an extra air pump and stone and aerating the water at least 24 hours before using it, letting it sit will also get rid of the chlorine.
