First time Growing a NON AUTO, PLEASE HELP

:leaf:Ok, So iv'e grown before but only autoflower lowryders, this time im going for 1 "Delicious northern Lights Blue" fem, and 2 "Big Bud #2" regular, I got 3 HPS bulbs, a 600w a 400w and a 250w, Im planning to use the 250, it has the blue spectrum in it, which i have read maximises immature growth, im not really bothered about that to be honest, but i really need to know, What light cycle should i be using for the baby when she sprouts, how long do i keep it on that cycle, when do i change the cycle and to what? ive read that i must start it off on 18/6 then change to 12/12 when ready to flower, but my sources are not reliable therefore i am asking anyone on here that can help me! If you need me to explain a little better, please just comment and i will do my best to explain my needs,

jph there are 3 phases of grothe we speakin on

germ to seedling is the first phase it is 2 or 3 weeks best served wit flouresent tubes or cfl

seedling -veg cycle best served wt mh or cmh bulb (blue spect)

flower to chop best served wit hps light (red spec)

no any light will work for any stage but for the best results try suggested lights

Oh I see, I have blue spect on my 250 hps, I dont think it will be ideal because of heat on the seedling so i will certainly be using that little guide, cheers for the help m8, 2 more things , do i start the seedling on 18/6 cycle? or have i got this totally wrong? and Im struggling to find a perfect height for my bulb from the top of my babys, could you suggest? cheers for everything!

well can be almost any cycle but 12/12

i would not use 24 hours on plant needs some down time to rest


well if you start out slightly outside the lights range you ok
say if lights rang is 6 inches to 1 foot
id start at sumtin like 1 foot 3 inches you feel me slightly out of its range then work my way inot range slowly

I found the best way to start seedlings (for me) is uder my T5HO tubes (2x2700K and 4x6500K)

2-4 inches away from the tubes (tho fist week I start on 6 and move my way down)

and I run mine 20/4 (some even do 24/7) but I like to give boath my plants .. gear and power use a rest ..
at the hottest hour.. I run my light at night time ..

once in veg (and in my 3 gallon pots) I begin to turn it down to 18/6 a hour a day ..

and least week in Veg. (in 5 gallon pots) is with my 600W HPS cutting a hour a day untill I reach 12/12 ..

just how I do it ..


and yes blue spectrum (5000-6500K) work best for seedlings and in veg.. wile red/yellow (2000-3000K) is what you need for your buds

(like with autos) tho a plant use all light all grow .. just more blue in Veg and more red/yellow in flowering ..

p.s.

I would run that 250W with the littel extra blue it have for seedlings/veg .. more blue and less heat and enough light for small plants .. and then use either the 400W or 600W doing flowering .. as they will need mouch more light in 12/12 ..

just seems logic to me ..
