Its probably already been said but that's a serious setup for a noob but best of luck man I hope you've been reserching for a good few months leading to such a large investment.not trying to put you off but daaaamn you're gonna learn alot with this grow n probably the next few after that.
This one is on to it. I would very strongly suggest a soil grow first. I mean you can always add a cheap 5-gallon bubbler. KISS!

Shit fellas this bucket thing really threw me off. Was hoping to be up and running by next week. I was actually supposed to be ready last week. Taking care of 16 buckets is like an all day job. What I didn't tell you guys is that I'll also be setting up a mother/veg room at the same time. I felt confident but now I think that I might have too much on my plate. Was initially going to sit and wait for my mothers to grow so I can take cuttings and do a SOG. But I figured why wait empty handed. I'll just run a grow through the flower room in the mean time while I wait for the mothers. Mothers will also be running in DWC buckets. 8 in a 5x5 with some space left over for clones.

Should I just scratch the DWC buckets and go for a couple 4x8 ebb and flows? Especially since I was planning a SOG in ebb and flows, will already have the trays ready and wont buy/craft buckets for that one grow. Its just that I read dwc and scrog go really good together and produce great, both in yield and quality.

One thing I dont get with the RDWCs is that most of the ones I saw, both diy and store, they have 1 reservoir bucket for something like 4 or 6 buckets. What I dont understand is how 4 full buckets of water can be contained by 1 bucket of the same size. What am I missing?

Almost every successful hydro grower I know started in dirt. Learn to walk before you take off running.

Good luck, BigSteve.

From noob to noob, grow 1 or 2 in soil first. I grew 5 in soil for my first grow. I read and researched for months first. So, I knew more than everyone here...and got maybe 2 oz of shit-weed from it. I thought I had it down. I learned more from that shitty grow, then I think I even realize. You make mistakes. Things will happen that you never thought of before hand (spider mites, fungus gnats, root mites, etc.). You're planning on starting your first grow like a mini commercial grow. Best of luck to you, but I'd suggest a few small personal grows until you even understand what the girls are telling you. Because they will all tell you what they're hungry for or full of. I had no idea what they were asking for at first.

I think I'm just going to go with the tables. It makes the most sense since thats what I plan to grow with mainly when I switch over to SOG. No point in wasting money on buckets.

I'm sketching my grow room design and I have so many options in my head. Thought i'd pitch you guys a couple of sketches to see what you guys think and your opinions.

I'm trying to plan how I want my air cooled hoods ducted. One sketch shows a fan+filter combo >> Y-connector >> 2 ducts each running through 2 hoods, and each exiting out of a window. So 2 exit ducts will be positioned at the window.

The other sketch is basically the same thing except there is another Y connector near the window so that instead of being 2 exit ducts positioned at a window, its only one.

I'd think the second one is the most ideal way in terms of convinced and organization, but I'm worried that the 2nd Y connector near the window might cause a bottleneck effect and not breathe as well as it would have with 2 individual ducts exiting.

I'm going to be vegging in the same room for now and I'll just be swapping out MH bulbs with HPS when its time to flower. I've hit a wall as to what size MH bulb I should get. Should I get 4 1000w MH bulbs for vegging or is that too much? Should I get 400's instead? Ballast doesn't support 600. I could get a conversion if 600 is the best bet.

Did a cute little DIY RDWC systems for fun just to get a better visual idea of how the system works and gets put together. Used straws and a few styrofoam cups I had laying around.

Its cute lol and it works. If i had a little tiny pump where the green straw starts and some tiny airstones it would be good to go lol. I might actually make the tiny pump out of a bottle cap and tiny motor rotor just for fun.

Don't take this seriously. Obviously its not for real and not practical. I know people use the big totes and fit double the sites that this systems footprint takes up.

This is basically the same as the real system right? If it was bigger?

How about 2 1000 watt mh?

There is a total of 4 lights though. 1 for ever 4 plants in a 4x4 space. I could pack all 16 of them close together under 1 or 2 MH lights up until they are tall enough for the screen. But then i would have to take them to their designated permanent area where 4 lights will be used and continue vegging and training until its time to go to 12/12.

Hi guys,
Its my first time growing and I need a little help. I have 4 white widow growing under 600w MH lamp. My lamp has cool tube with a 200 cfm exaust system in it that keeps it very cool even when I touch the glass.

I kept my seedling (about 1 week old) about 3 feet from lamp and I noticed some streching (see picture) so I moved them about 15 inches from the lamp. The temp at the top of the plants is between 20-24 C. Should I move them further or leave them like that?

Thanks for the awnsers in advance, happy growin boys.

I wouldn't move it any closer.
Roots aren't gonna like light in clear container.
You should start your own thread when you need help with something.
Welcome to roll it up.

o read threads and look at
I see what you're saying that would be a pain in the ass. I need to read threads a little closer, pay attention to the template pics. I would go with the 1000's if the budget allows.

Thanks. I went with the 1000s.

Well, almost everything has been purchased. All thats left is for me to decide and buy/build whichever grow method i wish to use, buy nutrients and thats all. Will post pics of the start up soon.
