Hello people, this is my first official grow. This whole situation has kind of been a fluke and I still can't believe I've gotten this far. It all started a couple of months ago when me and my wife bought a bag of mostly AK-47 with a nug or two of Blueberry in it from a fellow grower. So as we sifted through the tasty nugs we happened to find a seed here and a seed there, which I thought was a bit strange btw. When the smoke finally cleared
, the seed count was 10 AK-47 and 2 blueberry, 12 dank seeds total
. So me and my wife decided that it was a blessing from the cannabis gods and decided to try our hand at growing.
Without fully realizing what we were getting ourselves into we move forward into the germination stage. After about a week of the typical soaked paper towel then into the plastic bag treatment we had no results. After two weeks I had little hope if any at all left. After 3 weeks I found it amusing that my wife persisted to keep those paper towels wet. It wasn't until nearly 6 weeks had gone by that my wifes persistence finally paid off. I know it's hard to believe but it's true, 5 1/2 weeks of relentless germinating on behalf of my wife, then low and behold 12 out of 12 seeds sprouted.
I felt like a proud father in the delivery room. Bluntz anyone
??? So I quickly sprang into action, went out to slave-mart and bought some potting soil a couple of gallons of water and some plastic party cups. We got a cardboard box some aluminum foil and grabbed whatever desklamps were available in our apartment and we proceeded into the nesting period
.
Fast forward into the future by 4 weeks and everything is going well. I've been doing my homework and decided before we trans plant our babies into bigger pots, I need to build them a bigger crib in order to conceal everything from our neighbors. At this point we've been growing our babies under a couple of 100 watt swirly cfl's and our babies are ranging from 5 to 8 inches in height with the exception of one runt.
So I built them a plywood box 5' tall, x 3' wide, x 4' deep for a grand total of 12ft sq, which would provide a square foot of floor space per plant. Since I wanted to keep them vegging for a little while longer I added four 4ft Sunblaster T5 flourescent lights. Since we are broke as can be, we can't afford the big mama HPS, or MH lights atm. However, I am considering purchasing a couple of 250 watt HPS lights with the dome reflectors they got Home Depot.
Moving along now, I also got a couple bags of FoxFarm soil with worm castings and bat guano (26qt's ea), Happy Frog Organic All purpose fertilizer with bat guano (n-p-k is @ 5-5-5). I also got a couple of bags of peralite (8qt's ea). I mixed the peralite with the soil and added the required amount of fertilizer to the medium. I filled the new pots half way (1gal pots), I transplanted a couple of nights ago and everything is going well except for one.
Unfortunaely it got real cold the other night and I used a space heater to maintain optimum temperature (about 75F).The bad thing was that I left it on and a couple of hours later one of the plants suffered. About half way between soil level and the first set of leaves a section of the stalk about an inch long has turned brown and is drying out. The rest of the plant is starting to droop and dry. Is there any way I could salvage it????? I was considering cutting it above the affected area and re-planting it as if it were a clone. What do you guys think???
