First time germing autos and its not going all to plan...

Hi all, I've grown a couple of times; both from cuttings. One i tried from seed and she germed fine but the conditions were too hot so she had to be flung. Now everything seems ok but the beans are giving me grief.
I was using Dutch Passion Think Different and Mazar, Sweet Seeds La Diva and Red Devll, one of each.
Process used:
Placed seed in folded damp paper towel, moistened with lukewarm water.
The paper towel is then placed in the baggy they arrived in and closed up.
The baggies are then put in the jiffy packaging they arrived in and put ontop of the boiler wrapped in a towel.

They remained there until they cracked and showed their tap root(36-48 hours), the think different was looking more promising, the tap root was looong. - once when i checked the baggied and paper towel were pretty warm off the heat of the boiler, maybe could be the cause of this?
As it stands it had been 5 days since put in soil, think different has grown some what but not touch the surface (gently pulled away the top coco to see the tap root had grown and gone green? the shell had broken away.)
the other 3 hadn't budged an inch, natta. I was getting impatient and annoyed which resulted in me squeezing one of the beans, it was all white mushy inside - foolish but not sure if it should be all mushy ??

Ive got a few more autos set to arrive any day now so don't want the same mistake to happen again.

Anyway not to natter on, want to make sure you know whats going on. Thanks for the read and any help is much appreciated.

Bro you got to be patient. That's the #1 thing with Sweet Old Mary Jane. When you germinate this go around don't be in such a hurry and do not remove any top layer of soil let it come up on its on. Also I recommend to germinate using the way that I do and many others. Just place your seed in a cup of water and let it soak in a dark warm place for 2 hours then take out cup of water with seed and take your finger and give the seed a light push and it should sink to the bottom of your water. Then let it soak for 24-48hrs max or until you see tap root. Then place seed a half inch deep in moist soil and put under your seedling light. Doing it this way will weaken the seed making it so much easier to break open. I have seen tap root doing this method fast as 8 hours later.

sir
first guy is right

but next time skip the paper towel method ...........go to the walmart garden section and look for jiffy greenhouse plug refills

this is one of the greatest things on the market the soil in there is all tricked out to make seeds spourt and give them a good start

for autos do this .................get a jiffy plug water it all up and squeeze some so not fully loaded..........make a hole with toothpick about 1/2 down take the seed and this is important the seed goes in the plug with the fat part down and the point part up (look at a seed it looks like a onoin with a fat part and skinny part) .........then u take that plug and put it in the center of the final planter (when i said final i mean the one it will be chopped from ) and then u give it 1 cup of water around the plug and leave it alone for 4 days ( note if u put the seed in wrong will be issuses look at it if it is the tap root popping up u can try to save it by taken out and putting back in gentenly 50/50 odds) ......currently tring to save LA diva do to this

but this is the best method i have found ....towel/soak in water for 48 hours/plug in green house.........this is the best method i have found u get a great responce in height 3 to 4 inch spourt with in 5 6 days........u can do this in a room with the ac turned off and light coming in from window ........
watering is like this from planting .....4 days 1 cup of water......wait 3 days then u give 1 cup.......wait 2 days and then give 1 cup and then one 1 cup for every 2 days after that little ontop of the plug the rest around it .....as the plant grows u increase week 2 gets.week 3 u get a Fluid oz Spray bottome from walmart garden section ( never spray plants we want the fl oz on the side)

2 cups of water is 8 fliud oz week 3 u want to increase that to atleast 12 by week 4 your plant is as big as it going to get in roots now it goes deep so u should be somewhere in 18 to 20 week 5 u get to 26 oz and hold there untill u cut the plant

autos are short spans the other methods might be great for photos but autos ..............jiffy plug to final planter less stress maximum time to grow and flower big and proud before the gentics of it cuase to die off

I've done plenty of auto's soaking in water. But like justugh said make sure you plant in final pot don't want to transplant a auto chances of shock is to great.

Personally I've never germinated in a cup of water before although I hear this is a stable method....I've always done the paper towel method and there's nothin wrong with this way, do as u said, several layers of paper towels dampened with Luke warm water and place in a dark place but not on you boiler that could be slightly to warm, I put them in a plastic tub and placed in a cupboard...2-5 days later it's ready!!

I don't have much experience with a grow and zero experience with harvest, but I have successfully germ'd 6 seeds, out of 7. I'm not saying my way is the right way or best way, in fact, I'm sure it's far from the best and I've probably just been really lucky, but so far, I have planted 5 bag seeds and 2 autos directly into the growing medium I planned on growing the plants in. My success rate has been 4/5 on the bag seed and 2/2 with the autos. I was going to try the paper towel method and the cup of water method and all of that, but then I read where someone said, "why not just plant em where ya gonna grow em? It works for me." So I tried it and so far it's worked for me. I just make sure I use a spray bottle and spritz the top of the soil a couple times a day until they pop.

On my next grow in say about 2 week's I'm goin to experiment with all 3 methods I've heard on this thread....I successfully germinated 10 out of 10 NL seeds on my first grow usin the paper towel method, after 4 days the tap roots were half inch to 1 inch long! I will try 2 in a cup of water, 2 directly into soil (why the fuck I've not thought of this before I don't know!) and the rest paper towels....guna do 10 x Think Different from Dutch Passion

Cheers for feedback guys. Must say all in all, its impatience that snuffed it for me. Popped another bean in water other day and shes sprouted her tap root and has been placed into her 15l air pot of coco; i shall play the waiting game on this one and hopefully she makes an appearance shortly.
Think Different is being left as is and hopefully she breaks surface. Last time i saw the bean it was a bit weird looking. the taproot has curled around the bean, kinda looks like a bass clef and the bean itself had split into 2 down the middle until it met the taproot.

Anyway ill be starting a thread in the next week or so and will share the link through this thread for those interested.
Thanks again.

Yea I for one would like to follow the think different strain, especially as its my next choice of weed!

Tap roots on autos are a little weird, they seem to curl back round on themselves as opposed to bein relativey straight, all 10 of mine were at a near 90 degree angle
