First time father, please help!

I'm flowering for the first time ever, so I don't have too many answers, I do know this though, my leaves have gotten a little spiky. First time grower, however I've read a lot, and to me this looks like heat stress. My temps have been between 70-81F. Any suggestions?

If 81F is your high temp at top of canopy, it is not heat stress. If 81F is your temp at bottom of canopy then you would be warmer at top and it could be a heat stress warning sign. If your tips start curling upward as well you'll know you are running too hot.

Thanks Bugeye. My temp monitor is mot at the very top of the canopy. The girls past it in their stretch. I'll raise the temp monitor and see what the "real" high is. They're under an air cooled hood that I can touch and hold my hand on the glass, I know that doesn't mean too much. If the temps are hotter, I'll lower the thermostat in the ling room. So it doesn't look like the girls are stressin'? They're just telling me that they may be getting a lil' hot. Looks like a heat issue to you though, nothing else?

Anytime I see leaf edges or tips going up I am inclined to think heat stress is at least a possibility. So if you can rule that out with a good temp. check at canopy top then you can look at nutrient issues next. In any event, it is not something I would be overly concerned with at this point, but I would keep an eye on it for any changes in condition. Your overall leaf structure looks very good.

Yokel, I was thinking it may be a bit high. I'm sitting here in the garden, just moved my temp gauge, my high humidity reading is 55%, low is 40%. Where should I be, 40% and below for flowering right?

Keep looking around, or wait til the hottest part of your light schedule, I bet it's higher than 81F and lower than 40% at some points or in certain spots.

People have been growing weed for thousands of years. Your leaves are not unique snowflakes :) They are showing classic signs of-

a)too much light (not likely)
b)too much heat (possibly)
c)too low humidity (possibly)
d)underwatering and your leaves can't breathe properly.

Take your pic.

That's what I was looking for, if not too much heat, then what. Ruling out heat, hat leaves me with A, C and D.
C) I doubt it, the humidity in my lung room doesn't get below 40%, I've always thought I may need a dehumidifier during flowering.
D) I doubt it, I know I don't overwater, and I am pretty sure I am not under watering. It's been every 3rd day(skipping two days), sometimes it'll just be skip a day.
A) now that has me thinking, the guy I got these clines from has a mother plant of this Headband strain, and grows it all year. He keeps his lights far as heck from his plants. Too far imo. 36-48". I have my hood 16" from the top of the canopy to the glass. Looking at it, the light is super intense on the top of the canopy, and these girls may not be used to that. Is that a possibility? Or not even that they are not used to it, but that 16" is just to close? Too close for this strain? The only spiky tips are within the top 2-3" of the girls. Should I simply raise my light 4" and see if this solves the issue? That puts my bottom nugs out of the 36" optimal range. Worth it if the girls are happier though right? Or am I just completely out of the ballpark here?

image.jpg The light looks intense to me, but these are the first mj plants k have ever seen under a 1khps. I'm not sure if the plants should be so bright.

Only way to find out is move it back a little and see if they like it...

There are only so many variables that will cause the leaves to do that. There's always something I haven't seen before, but what I listed is really all I can think might be the issue.

Move the light back to say 24' for a day and see if the leaves react. It wouldn't take long to know...

Top colas > bottom nugs. Any day, every day. Make the top as happy as possible, screw the bottom branches.

I keep my 1000W at minimum 20", usually more like 2 ft. I've seen edges go up like yours when plant is being hardened off so it wouldn't surprise me if raising your light just a little solves the problem. Beautiful garden, nice work!

When the lights come back on tonight, I'll get in there and raise that hood a good 6" to 22" above. Then we'll see how they are in the morning before they go to bed. If that solves it, I'll keep it there.

Thanks guys, Yokel, Bugeye, you guys rock! And Bugeye, thanks for the kind words on the garden :) my pride and joy! I love it. I thought, If I'm gonna do it, do it right. I am so thankful for my setup, I know not everyone has it so lucky. I just got my running water out there, no more hauling buckets! I need to get a sanitary sewer line, just a 2" branch line with a floor sink ran back there so I don't have to haul out my collection tray waste....... Trying to get it dialed in to make it as easy as possible. Not trying to spoil myself, thinking of the future, I'm gonna get old(er) one day :)

Sorry, thanks for letting me ramble....... Yokel, Bugeye, thanks again guys I'll post an update in the morning.

Your plants are awesome, dude. Very uniform too.

I run a CFL tent in the middle of the Mojave Desert. I pushed the shit out of my plants just to pull a QP from my 300w CFL set-up, lol. Almost hit 1/2g per watt though, so I'm working on it. Besides, a QP every 6 weeks is more than me and my family need. It's the competitiveness of it at this point! :cuss:

I have to get water in 5 gallon buckets from the store because the water here is so bad from the tap. I would be blessed as all get-out to have your set-up. :)

I am getting a 600w for myself for Christmas. Gonna have to buy the wife some jewelry to bribe that one in there, lol. Hell, I'm almost tempted to keep my CFL tent going just to see if I can crack a gram per watt out of that thing one day... :wall:

You're doing it though Yokel! Whatever it takes :) My garden started with the plan for a 24" cfl square cab 48" tall. Turned into a 4' cube so I could get in and arrange plants and lights, then a ling room, then flower cab..... Holy crap, my wife brought this on and she doesn't medicate. I wouldn't mind whatever setup as long as it supplied me with meds. I must say though, you're a trooper, your girls must love you, going to the store for water! Dedication :)

Yokel, Bugeye, pop on over and check out my grow journal, please. Check these ladies out from the start, and see them through! :)

Oh and thanks for the Awesome and uniform comment Yokel. I didn't know exactly how to train them, but I thought they turned out very well, especially for a first go around. I love my ladies, cant wait to see and smoke what they produce, and get a final weigh in and calculate gpw!!!
