hey guys.. this is my first grow. I have 2 seedlings, each in a solo cup directly below a work light with a 23W CFL Bulb @5000K. I have 2 fans circulating air, one blowing in and one blowing out, I talk to them daily (they are my babies). I do the hand check for watering purposes daily to make sure they are getting what they need... I think im ok on overwatering but I HAVE A COUPLE QUESTIONS

I was was wondering when I should transfer them to a smaller pot, and any nutes you guys prefer lemme know :D.

the smaller seedling has a curled down cotyledon with a yellow spot as seen in the pic, and its my first time so I need help diagnosing whats wrong with her and how I can fix her, also the stem is a red/purple color unlike the other which has a green stem (BTW these are 2 different seedlings planted at 2 different times, ironically the bigger one was planted after the smaller one.. the small one is I think really stunted because its like a week and a half old. not exactly sure. but the bigger seedling is only about 8 days old and shes looking healthy and has been growing great the past couple days with Poland spring water and spritzing them every so often if I feel the top layer is completely dry and to help with stem growth and strength.

have these plants on a 20/4 On/Off cycle.

Hey, your plants look fine, trust me! There is NOTHING to worry about, from what I can see.

The color of the cotyledons indicate whether or not the seedling is absorbing nutrients from its "starter leaves." The yellowish color you are noticing on those leaves are normal. Just means that the seedling is feeding from the cotyledons. The leaves will eventually turn brown and/or shrivel up and most likely fall off. That's when you will REALLY need to give your plants' nutrients, if you aren't at that point.

Your stems are fine.
Some will start off a greenish color, while some may have a purplish color. The colors will change to "normal" one the seedling gets stronger and starts to take in nutrients, etc.

Why would you want to transfer them to a smaller pot?
Your seedlings appear to be growing fine; you can't really tell if any are stunted until they are into the vegetative stage, experiencing "rapid growth." You can then compare their sizes to see which one is smaller than the rest.

What makes you think you're overwatering?
Do you allow the medium to get somewhat dry before you water again? Or do you let the medium stay moist?

hey robnarley, thanks for all the help! I water the plants when they are somewhat dry, but I sprits them everyday regardless if they are moist , but a very light spritz.

And for transferring, I think im just overly cautious about them getting root bound and damping off.

Yea they look fine.you will have to transplant earlier than I did.I fill my solo cups to rim.get bout 12-14 days with full cup of soil.when I just transplanted mine after 12 days there was roots all over the bottom. Yours look half full of soil bet the roots already circling the bottem

thanks dave, good info. I just needed reassurance that it was soon the right time to transplant.

also one more thing.. what do you think is the best pot (size)/ place to transplant

the yellow tips at the end of the leaves, what do you guys think that is caused by? I want her to survive and give me danky bud. The more busy one, I might have to transplant him as soon as the soil dries up more because I just waterd him yesterday. if im wrong, please correct me but shes looking like an indica :D
