First time Blue Cheese Grow Journal

I'll get straight to the point and give some information about the grow.

My buddy and I planted our Blue Cheese seeds about four weeks ago. This is a little closet grow and we are using an Aerogarden pro. We have kept the PH of the water around 5.8. The temperature of the area has been about 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The humidity has been about 54% or so. Up until tonight, the only light we had for the plants was the Aerogarden hood. About two weeks ago, our plant leaves started to yellow as you can see. Since then, all of the new leaves have been a nice green. I do notice a very little yellow here and there again though. Tonight we purchased 3 150 watt equivelant CFL's and put them up.

Here are some pictures below. They were taken tonight after setting up the CFL's.

We are NOOBS when it comes to growing. This is our first ever attempt. We are looking for comments, advice, critiques, etc. That would be great.

This forum rocks!

My biggest concern at this point is the fact that those earlier leaves turned yellow on us and that some of the top leaves look like the corners are starting to droop a little. You can see that a bit in the pictures.

I'm gonna get some sleep and check this tomorrow!

Anybody have any advice? How do they look? Should we trim those yellow bottom leaves off?

And here's one more pic from last night that I forgot to add.

they look nice!

couple things:
1) your hood/lights are too high, that's why the plants are so tall and stretchy, yet with few sets of leaves. You can see it quite clearly in your 3rd pic, see how they're stretching up to the light? Now, it may be hard to adjust since they're already so tall, but keep it in mind for the future :)

2) Leave the leaves, they're fine. No sense damaging the plant unless its absolutely necessary.

Also, what kind/amount of Nutrients are you using? That may also be a cause of the yellowing, as that happens with over-nuting.

Thanks for the help!

We are using Fox Farm Grow Big nutes. Wednesday was the last time that we gave the plants nutes. We put in two capfulls which is supposedly equal to a teaspoon each (our aerogarden resevoir is exactly a gallon). We were going to be giving them nutes and doing a water change every Wednesday. I have to admit that nutes is my least knowledgeable point so I'm trying to read up more on that right now. Help is greatly appreciated.

We'll move the hood light and our new CFL's closer to the plants also. I see how they were stretching.
